Another great Friday of releases. The one I am most excited about is Scorpion Child. I hope there is something that gets your blood pumping. The ones in blue are the ones I will be listening to over the next couple of days.
- Scorpion Child – Acid Roulette – (Nuclear Blast America) – They are back and I couldn’t be happier. Their self-titled first album was a masterpiece. They have a classic rock sound with a modern edge. I can’t get enough of new bands that have that retro sound. This will be the first album I listen to in the car on the way to work.
- Garbage – Strange Little Birds – (Vagrant) – Shirley Manson and Garbage are back (but they never really left). I streamed this last week on Apple Music and I already know this is a another great album.
- Rival Sons – Hollow Bones – (Earache Records) – This is their fifth album and they keep getting better with each one. They are a rock / blues band out of California. I just love their sound. I am really into these newer bands with retro sounds. You have them, Scorpion Child and the Wild Feathers that just remind me that their are still fantastic bands making unbelievable music.
- Nick Jonas – Last Year Was Complicated – (Island) – Nick Jonas is okay, not my favorite. He usually has some pretty decent tracks, but mostly I am listening to make sure my daughter can listen to it if she so chooses.
- Band of Horses – Why Are You Ok – (Universal) – I came across them a couple years ago and really dig their unique sound. It is indie, southern rock and folksy all in one. I don’t like everything they do, but there is enough to keep me coming back. Definitely going to give this one a good listen.
- Paul McCartney – Pure McCartney (2CD) – (Hear Music) – This is yet another greatest hits package, but it is Sir Paul McCartney, so I will listen to it anyway.
- Little Big Town – Wanderlust – (Capitol) – Their song “Girl Crush” out last year was such an amazing song. I am not sure what to expect on this one since they worked with Pharrell on this album but I am intrigued enough to give it a try.
- Shawn Colvin & Steve Earle – Colvin & Earle – (Fantasy)
- Saliva – Love, Lies & Therapy – (Universal Music Enterprises)
- Fantasia – The Definition of… – (RCA)
- Moby – Music from Porcelain – (Thrive Music)
- Jon Bellion – The Human Condition – (Capitol Records)
- They Might Be Gaints – Phone Power – (Idlewild Recordings)
For my money, I think Rival Sons would be my one purchase this week if I don’t to only buy one.

I am listening to them on my drive home from work. The car is the best place for me to listen. Scorpion Child’s album didn’t disappoint this morning.

I’m not familiar with Scorpion Child. There are so many bands you know? I’m also curious about the new Garbage. I haven’t listened to them in years!

It is so hard to keep up with all of them. BTW…the Rival Sons album was really good.
