Friday New Releases – September 30th

We are to the end of another month and the end of another work week.  This year is flying by.  This is another Friday with a ton of new music.  I can’t say I am super excited about any of them, but I am interested in listening to quite a few (highlighted in Blue).

  • CkXkvVlUoAEKZWs  Yellowcard – Yellowcard – (Hopeless Records):  Apparently this is their 10th and last album together.  That is a little sad.  They have put out some great albums, so here is to hoping they go out on a high note.

  • 61J6WpgbcIL._AC_US160_  Bon Iver – 22, A Million – (Jagjaguwar):  This is the third album by this wonderful indie folk rocker.  I am not real familiar with his music, but after hearing a couple songs, I am ready to dive in a see what he is about.

  • 51-AMaGhAjL._AC_US160_  Drive-By Truckers – American Band – (ATO Records):  A new album by the alternative country/southern rock band.  They stem from Athens, Georgia and any band out of Athens is worth listening to in my opinion.

  • 51rn3Jj0MyL._AC_US160_  Il Volo with Placido Domingo – Notte Magica: A Tribute to the Three Tenors – (Sony Masterworks):  I was never into this style of music, but these guys are something else and I am looking forward to the new release.  Plus, Placido Domingo is with them. All good to me.

  • cover170x170-21  Andy Timmons Band – Theme From a Perfect World – (Andy Timmons):  This is a nice surprise.  I wasn’t expecting anything new from this former Danger Danger guitarist.  It has been 5 years since their last album.  High hopes on this one. (no video…sorry)
  • 61ozt6gvmwl-_ac_us160_  Marc Broussard – S.O.S. 2: Save Our Soul: Soul On A Mission – (G-Man Touring): A follow-up to his 2007 smash, he brings more soul tributes for us to enjoy.  Love the roughness of his voice.

  • 61VWvgWLrtL._AC_US200_  Temple of the Dog – Temple of the Dog (2CD Set) – (A&M)
  • 71vWcjOWezL._AC_US160_  Van Morrison – Keep Me Singing – (Caroline)

  1. Few albums there I’m interested in (The Pixies, John Prine and Drive-By Truckers), though I wasn’t aware of the new Bon Iver release. Dare say I’ll check them out on Spotify or suchlike. Release I’m snapping up is Henry Senior Jr’s Plates Of Meat. That one is gonna be special…

  2. Picked up the new Brian Culbertson today called Funk! I’ve heard some good things about it, so I’ll see if it’s as good as some of his earlier releases.

    1. Is the pixies release and reissue of an old album or new? For some reason I was thinking it was a reissue. I haven’t listened to the Bon Iver yet, but let me know how you really feel about him😀

      1. The Pixies one is entirely new. Bon Iver is the type of song-writer who puts accent on mood and emotion, but forgets to actually write interesting melodies. His stuff puts me to sleep. I hear this new album is more electronic and experimental, but still forgettable.
