Another Friday has arrived and as school starts to wind down for some and Summer is coming, there are a bunch of new albums for you to choose from. Anything strike your fancy??? There are a few for me and they are highlighted in Blue. There are more I want to hear, but these three are the ones I will attack first. Enjoy!
- Linkin Park – One More Light – (Warner Bros): Their new song “Heavy” is doing well on the charts and features Kilara. My kids love this song and it doesn’t sound like the Linkin Park of old. I am interested in seeing what the rest has to offer. I haven’t been thrilled with their current releases and hoping for some return to greatness with this one.
- Papa Roach – Crooked Teeth – (Eleven Seven Music): Big fan of Papa Roach and so glad they are back with some more hard rock. The Deluxe Edition of this gives you a live concert from The Fillmore in Detroit. That means the Deluxe is a must grab for me.
- The Dead Daisies – Live & Louder – (Steamhammer): The Dead Daisies released their second album last year and now after two albums, bring us a live album. With this talented group of musicians what is not to like and not to want…Definite Yes! for me!
- Fastball – Step Into Light – (33 1/3 Records)
- Little Steven – Soulfire – (Wicked Cool Records)
- Jimmie Vaughan Trio – Live at C-Boy’s (feat. Mike Flanigin & Frosty Smith) – (Proper Records)
- Dragonforce – Reaching Into Infinity – (Metal Blade)
- Rammstein – Paris (Live) – (Rammstein GBR)
- Snoop Dogg – Neva Left – (Doggystyle Records)
- David Archuleta – Orion E.P. – (Archie Music)
- Erasure – World Be Gone – (Mute)
- Faith Evans & The Notorious B.I.G. – The King & I – (Rhino Entertainment)
- Mandisa – Out of the Dark – (Sparrow Records)
- Thelonious Monk – Les Liaisons Dangereouses 1960 – (Sam Records)
- David Banner – The God Box – (A Banner Vision)
- Rascal Flatts – Back to Us – (Big Machine)
Nothing for me at all this week, though I had been tempted to pick up the 25th Anniversary Singles reissue. More so now.

Definitely an underwhelming week. That Linkin Park album is kind of lacking.

I don’t know what Linkin Park is thinking or doing with their new music direction, as it sounds more like The Chainsmokers. “Heavy” is a total bore as far as I’m concerned, and there’s been a huge backlash from fans. While I think it can be a good thing for artists and bands to change things up from time to time by going outside their normal comfort zone, Linkin Park has totally abandoned their awesome signature sound that they had for 15 years! If their new stuff was really good, it would be OK, but what I’ve heard so far is disappointing.
I’m surprised to see new music from Fastball and Erasure, as I wasn’t aware they were still together. And it’s heartening to see David Archuleta is still recording new music. He has a lot of potential.

I am with you on Linkin Park. Not sure what they are thinking changing so drastically. And on Fastball and Erasure, I had no idea either. I haven’t listened to them yet.
