CD Edition??  What the hell???  This is a series about my journey rediscovering Vinyl. Why would I discuss CDs??

Well, let me tell you why.  Before I started re-collecting vinyl, I use to have a pretty extensive CD collection.  After we had kids and the digital age, I burned all my CDs to digital and then started selling them off (made pretty good money on some).  When we moved from Georgia to North Carolina, I gave my neighbor the final box of CDs as I didn’t want to move them and I was going to have no where to store them (I regret that decision to this day).

Lo and behold, one of my neighbors inherited a collection of CDs he had no desire for keeping.  He had a bunch of scratched up, banged up CDs that probably didn’t even work and he was going to try and sell the rest.  I let him try and make a little money on the others (which he was able to sell about 100) and if there was any left, I told him I would be interested in whatever he had left.

A couple of months passes and I get a text.  He stated he still had some left and they were mine if I wanted them.  I immediately texted back that I was and how much.  For which he replied they were free.  FREE!!!  I love free.  Within 10 minutes I had huge batch of CDs to go through.

All the CDs are not in great condition, some are though.  I trashed a bunch that really were in horrible condition and/or were something I had no desire to spin.  As I go through them, the ones that skip or don’t play I will also trash, however, I plan on turning the CD Booklet into an Art Collage to hang in my home office. I think it will be pretty cool.  I will do a post on it when I finish.

I am sure it will take me a long time to get through these CDs for playability as I kept around 530 of the CDs…that is right 530 CDs for the grand price of $0.

That is it a very long nutshell.  There is no telling how long it will take to go through and see which ones play and which ones don’t, but I will eventually make it through it and maybe some new reviews to come out of it.  Nothing super rare or unusual, but still not bad for Free!!  Now after going through them, I have already had to throw away around 100 as they were cracked or completely unplayable.  However, I am gathering a nice collection of album covers as a result to make some sort of collage for my office.
