October is flying by and there are a bunch of new ones available this week…even Christmas albums if you are so inclined. There are some brand new bands, some old favorites and some fabulous reissues/deluxe editions. My choices are highlighted in Blue. Let me know which ones you are interested in with a comment below. Thanks and have a great weekend.
- Sons of Apollo – Pyschotic Symphony – (Inside Out Music): Another supergroup and another one featuring Billy Sheehan and Mike Portnoy. If you liked in The Winery Dogs, this is not the Winery Dogs. This is a much heavier band with Jeff Scott Soto on lead vocals rather than Richie Kotzen. Also on the record is Bumblefoot on guitar and Derek Sherinian that make this a massive group with a massive sound. Can’t wait to dive into this one.
- Europe – Walk the Earth – (Silver Lining Music): Europe is still putting out quality albums after 35+ years in the business. The took most of the 90’s off, but came roar back in the 2000’s and have been non-stop ever since. I have held off from listening to anything on this one yet as I want to take it in all at once.
- Adelita’s Way – Notorius – (Vegas Syn): The Vegas hard rock band brings us a new release 20 months after their last release ‘Getaway’ in 2016. I am glad to see they don’t waste anytime between releases with 5 albums in under 8 years. I wish more bands would do that.
- George Michael – Listen Without Prejudice / MTV Unplugged (Deluxe Edition) – (MTV Networks): George Michael passed away Last Christmas (just noticed the irony now with that statement) and he has surely been missed. I am glad to see a reissue of Listen Without Prejudice in conjunction with the released of his MTV Unplugged performance as well. This should be good.
- Tom Keifer – The Way Life Goes (Deluxe) – (Cleopatra Records): Tom Keifer is giving us a Deluxe edition of his 2013 solo album and I am always glad to get more songs from the Cinderella lead singer.
- Niall Horan – Flicker – (Neon Haze Music)
- Darius Rucker – When Was The Last Time – (Capitol Nashville)
- Cheap Trick – Christmas Christmas – (Big Machine)
- Casting Crown’s – It’s Finally Christmas – (Provident)
- Lindsey Sterling – Warmer in the Winter – (Concord Records)
- 98º – Let It Snow – (UMe)
- Trivium – The Sin and the Sentence – (Roadrunner Records)
- Gwar – The Blood of Gods – (Metal Blade Records)
- Willie Nelson – Willie and the Boys: Willie’s Stash Vol. 2 – (Sony Music)
- Boyz II Men – Under the Streetlight – (Tango Records)
Oh dear. Slim pickings… I can’t see anything there for me this week.

I tried listening to that one this morning, but wasn’t in the mood and didn’t enjoy it. I am sure it was the fact I am really tired this morning. I will definitely spin it again when I am awake and in a better mood.

Music has to fit the mood! I’m sure it will click.

Slim pickings for me too. Europe is the only one I’ll be checking out.

I’m a fan of Adelitas Way, and I like the few tracks I’ve heard thus far, so looking forward to listening to the entire album.

Me too! I haven’t listened to it properly yet, only in my office at work, not cranked up in the car or at home. Will be doing that soon.

I quite liked listen without prejudice, I imagine his voice/songs would work nicely in the unplugged context as well

His voice does work well for the Unplugged. This will be on my Christmas list.

I’ll admit curiosity about the George Michael set. My sister was into him (and Wham!) way more than I was, but I heard it more than enough to recognize the power in that record. I still a couple of the tunes on the in-store radio at work…

I listened to it and it was a lot mellower than I remember but just as good.
