Friday New Releases – October 27th

Welcome to the last Friday of October and the last set of new releases for the month.  Halloween is coming up in a few days and maybe there is something on here that will be a treat for you…or maybe you buy it, it sucks and then it is a trick…either way I hope there is something for you.  The ones I am interested in are highlight in Blue.

  • 61M1TfV-VoL._AC_US218_  Stereophonics – Scream Above the Sounds – (Stereophonics / Parlophone):  These Welsh boys are back with another new album.  After 20 years together, they haven’t missed a beat.  They are on a steady diet of one new album every two years and without fail, he were are with their latest.  If you don’t know them, check them out and see why they are top of my list this week.

  • download  Red – Gone – (Provident Label Group):  This Christian metal band is straying from their Christian roots with this album and delivering a mainstream rock record.  They even do a Sia cover on the album.  This could be interesting.  I will definitely cue this one up as well,

  • 61reIWRNdyL._AC_US218_  Theory of a Deadman – Wake Up Call:  I admit I am not sure why I have this one on my list of possible spins.  They haven’t done anything to excite me in quite awhile. This might move down on the list by the time this gets around to being released.

  • 61TpwIIAVBL._AC_US218_  Hollywood Undead – Five – (Hollywood Undead/BMG):  I really love these guys.  It is so different than my normal listening tastes and that is a good thing sometimes. They aren’t for everyone as the hard nu-metal, rapcore sound isn’t for everyone.  I like it!!  And I am so not their target audience.

  • 51Ftcqa9t1L._AC_US218_  10 Years – (how to live) AS GHOSTS – (Mascot Label Group):  Thanks to my brother-in-law for putting me on to these guys.  The alt rock band has delivered consistently great rock albums and looking forward to this one.  The only strange thing now is there is only 1 original member…he was the drummer and is now the lead guitarists.  You can almost claim Jesse Hasek as an original member ever though he came in a couple years into the group, but there for their biggest albums.  I don’t know what to expect, but will still listen.

  • 61GMnDu+ZyL._AC_US218_  Kelly Clarkson – Meaning of Life – (Atlantic Recording):  The Pop Queen is back.  I have been a fan since her American Idol start.  Although her last album was only okay, she has earned my respect enough to listen to everything she puts out.  This will be no different.

  • 514iygZw+5L._AC_US218_  Appice – Sinister – (Steamhammer):  FINALLY!!! The Appice boys are doing an album together.  I don’t know what we will are in for, but if Carmine and Vinnie are together, that is enough for me.  Sign me up for this one.

  • 515C58qOGOL._AC_US218_  Powerman 5000 – New Wave – (Pavement Entertainment)
  • 51-COdudjLL._AC_US218_  Norah Jones – Day Breaks (2CD Deluxe) – (Blue Note)
  • 61kTbaD7M4L._AC_US320_QL65_  Kenny Chesney – Live in No Shoes Nation – (Blue Chair Records)
  • 51NN86Ji3eL._AC_US436_QL65_  Ashes Remain – Let the Light In – (BEC Recordings)
  • download-8  The Used – The Canyon – (Hopeless Records)
  • 61wG0S9tISL._AC_US200_  Weezer – Pacific Daydream – (Crush Music/Atlantic)
  • A1UXGlSnIeL._SX522_  Ministry – Live Necronomicon – (Cleopatra Records)
  • 61GvYeMYYGL._AC_US160_  SOJA – Poetry in Motion – (ATO Records)
  • 51JKyO-AViL._AC_US160_  Gregory Porter – Nat “King” Cole & Me – (Decca Records)
  • 51ykfYPDqrL._AC_US160_  Lee Ann Womack – The Lonely, The Lonesome & The Gone – (ATO Records)

  1. I had no idea The Stereophonics we’re still on the go! They were pretty huge over here for a while, but their popularity dropped (so much so that I thought they’d split!). And Weezer have a new album, too!? Man, they seem to churn them out these days.

    1. I am looking forward to Stereophonics. I came to like them very late in the game, probably around the Pull the Pin album. Glad to see them still kicking. Weezer, they do put out a lot but not a huge fan. I will probably give it a listen but won’t be running out to buy it.

    1. I hope that Appice one is good. Looking forward to listening to it. I hadn’t heard the 10 Years song. Interesting if it sounded like Sixx AM as they don’t normally sound like that. Makes me wonder what this album will be like now.

  2. Love the Stereophonics song! Was not very familiar with their music, but will have to check out more of them. Also like Hollywood Undead’s song a lot. Sounds – to my ears at least – a bit like Eminem singing with Imagine Dragons lol. All the others you have highlighted in blue are worthy of listens too, so will check them out as well.

      1. I learned years ago with weezer to stop expecting a return to the first couple albums – my problem this weekend is that it sounds nothing like the quiet, thoughtful Downie recording I was intending to be listening to this weekend!
But I imagine once I do a better job managing expectations, it will be OK
