Welcome to another Friday New Releases and this week is a biggie. Why? Because Taylor is finally releasing her long awaited new album. I put it at the top because it will be the most played album in our house (I have two girls that love her). But don’t fret! There is plenty of other releases for everyone. I have a ton of rock records that I can’t wait to spin and they are highlighted in Blue. I hope there is something for you. Enjoy!
- Taylor Swift – Reputation – (Big Machine): Get ready because the old Taylor is DEAD!! This is a new Taylor Swift and from what I have heard so far, I would agree. Taylor is reinventing herself now with each new release and I don’t see it as a bad thing. At least for me, the new songs are more interesting than the prior songs. I actually might like this new direction. We will see as I will definitely hear it enough to become familiar with it.
- Sweet & Lynch – Unified – (Frontiers Records): Now here is where I will begin. Michael Sweet & George Lynch were brought together by Frontiers Records as one of their special projects and usually they end up as a one time deal, thankfully, this one is not. We are now given a second release and they are touring. Maybe this will last a little while. I always need more rock & roll.
- Jeff Scott Soto – Retribution – (Frontiers Records): Well, maybe I will start with this one. I can’t decide. I have followed Jeff Scott Soto’s career for some time and whether it was with Talisman, SOTO, Sons of Apollo or his solo work, he rarely disappoints. So I am excited to get more music after just getting the stellar new Sons of Apollo album just a few weeks back. I’ll take it!!
- Pink Cream 69 – Headstrong – (Frontiers Records): Or maybe I will start with this one. Too many to choose from. Frontiers has some great releases this week and it is hard to figure out where to begin. I really like David Readman’s vocals and this band has been nothing but consistent with their releases, just solid. Here’s to hoping for more.
- Greta Van Fleet – From the Fires – (Lava Music): The hottest new band to come around in a long time are back with a double EP. It includes the 4 songs from their previous EP Black Smoke Rising plus 4 new tracks. This is a must have for everyone!!! Can’t wait to hear what is in store this time around.
- Kutless – Alpha / Omega – (BEC Recordings)
- Primal Fear – Best of Fear – (Frontiers Record)
- Nathaniel Rateliff & the Night Sweats – Live at Red Rock – (Bottleneck Music)
- Evanescence – Synthesis – (Evanescence/BMG)
- Babylon A.D. – Revelation Highway – (Frontiers Records)
- Tears for Fears – Rule the World: The Greatest Hits – (Virgin EMI)
- Electric Wizard – Wizard Bloody Wizard – (Spinefarm Records)
- Seal – Standards – (A Decca Records)
- Elton John – Diamonds – (Virgin EMI)
- Aretha Franklin – A Brand New Me: Aretha Franklin with the Royal Philharmonic – (Rhino)
- Walk the Moon – What if Nothing – (RCA Records)
- Husker Du – Savage Young Du – (Numero)
- Shooter Jennings – Live at Billy Bob’s Texas – (Smith Music Group)
- Billy Ray Cyrus – Set the Record Straight – (Flatwood Records)
- Tracy Lawrence – Good Ole Days – (Lawrence Music Group)
Remember when Taylor was a country singer with a guitar?
Sweet & Lynch looks like the big winner this week for me.

It seems like so long ago. But kudos for her for figuring out how to actually sale albums when no one else can.
I am looking forward to the Sweet & Lynch as well. I started with Greta Van Fleet’s double EP this morning.

He is older now and going the Rod Stewart route I guess.

Good to hear Taylor Swift is aiming to evolve with each record – I like when artists keep trying new things

I do as well for the most part. But sometimes the change can be too dramatic and alienate fans. Haven’t heard here yet so have no idea how different it will be.

You aren’t missing anything with S&L. There have been a lot of these type of projects lately. Some good, some not so good. Next Friday does have some great live stuff coming.
