Friday New Releases – March 2nd

Welcome to March and Friday New Releases.  There is not a ton of new stuff, but hopefully there is something for you.  I have a few I will try out, but not super excited about anything.  My choices are highlighted in Blue.  Leave a comment and let me know if there is anything that you would like or something I missed (which I am sure I missed a lot).

  • 61Msln9d8SL._SS500  Andrew W.K. – You’re Not Alone – (Bee & El/Sony):  Here is someone we haven’t heard in a long, long while.  I am looking forward to explore what he has in store.  It is can usually be fun, strange, or who knows what, however, it is usually interesting.

  • 615r8UlIDhL  Michael Schenker Fest – Resurrection – (Nuclear Blast):  This should be an very interesting release as well. The guest list is quite impressive and any Schenker fan will love.  Guest appearances by Metallica’s Kirk Hammett, Wayne Findlay and Michael Voss-Schön along with contributions from three original MSG  singers – Gary Barden, Graham Bonnet and Robin McAuley.  Plus Doogie White is on it, who plays with Michael in Michael Schenker’s Temple of Rock.

  • 91tcTI2tyLL._SX522_  Marco Mendoza – Viva La Rock – (Mighty Music)
  • 51hhV0YwB6L._AC_US436_QL65_  MercyMe – I Can Only Imagine: The Very Best of MercyMe – (MercyME)
  • 51aR2ZQv+uL._SS500  Moby – Everything Was Beautiful, And Nothing Hurt – (Little Idiot)
  • 51vFWWvO2vL._SS500  The Breeders – All Nerve – (4AD)
  • 61EChra7O9L._SS500  Joan Baez – Whistle Down the Wind – (Razor & Tie Recordings)
  • 51TRj2swKTL._SS500  Tech N9ne – Planet – (Strange Music)

  1. Another week with nowt much for me to be excited about (if anything, actually). I’ll check out Moby and Andrew WK, but can’t say I’m actually all that fussed.

          1. I listened to the couple of the STP tracks that are available, but I didn’t think much of them. They should have gone with a vocalist who brought something new to the table, cause he just sounds like he’s trying to fit into Weiland’s shadow (doesn’t help that he was moving around like Weiland in the live clip I saw). That said, I’d probably like the stuff if Weiland was singing… cause musically they’re still a great band.

  2. I really like the new AWK album. I find it balances the energy of I Get With with the theatrics of Close Calls With Brick Walls. The only parts I didn’t enjoy were the spoken word bits because they brought the party to a stop. I’ve met Andrew WK a couple times and partied on stage with him once, and it sounds like he’s genuinely having fun on this record.
