Welcome to the last Friday of May. Work is really busy right now and I need something to take my mind off of it. Thank goodness it is Memorial Day Weekend and we get Monday off. I need it. There are several releases I will be checking out this weekend and they are highlighted in Blue. Let me know what you will be getting or whatever might peak your interest. Have a great weekend!!
- Shawn Mendes – Shawn Mendes – (Island Records): Shawn Mendes will be played constantly in my house this weekend and for weeks to come as I have two daughters who love him, one daughter a little too much…I swear a restraining order is in her future. Anyway, I have heard a couple songs and I have to say that “In My Blood” is a rather spectacular song. If there are any more like this one on the album, it will probably be great.
- Hoobastank – Push Pull – (Napalm Records): Here is a name I haven’t heard in years. Six years to be exact. It has been that long since their last album and honestly I haven’t followed them in quite a long time. No better time then the present to revisit the band. Haven’t heard anything yet so it will be interesting to see what they still have to offer.
And here are a couple more I will try out over the weekend…
- Jet – Get Born (Live) – (Bloodlines): I might check this one out as well. I really love the original album and it might be interesting to get the whole album live. It has been 15 years since the original debut album so why not!
- Jonathon Davis – Black Labyrinth – (Sumerian Records): Korn frontman’s debut solo album. That is all I really need to know to give this a try. Here is a teaser…
- Biffy Clyro – MTV Unplugged (Live at Roundhouse, London) – (Viacom)
- Snow Patrol – Wildness – (Polydor Records)
- Thunderpussy – Thunderpussy – (Thunderpussy LLC)
- Spock’s Beard – Noise Floor – (InsideOut Music)
- Marillion – Smoke (Live) – (Racket Records)
- Bleeding Through – Love Will Kill All – (Sharptone)
- Chvrches – Love Is Dead – (Glassnote Entertainment)
- Jeffrey Osborne – Worth It All – (Mack Avenue Records)
- Jennifer Warnes – Another Time, Another Place – (Porch Light LLC)
Nothing for me this week at all. Few I’d love to stay away from (Snow Patrol especially!!), but nothing that so much as sparks a “I’ll check that out” reaction.

Not much for anyone.

I’m definitely OK this week. The Marillion live albums coming out are all reissued. I got Smoke + Mirrors about 10 years ago.

It is a pretty crappy weekend for new music. I will catch up on some earlier ones now.

I actually enjoy Shawn Mendes, mainly because he’s more acoustic based compared to other pop musicians, and his eponymous album is my favourite so far.

I would agree with that.
