Friday New Releases – July 27th

Finally!  A week with a few releases I am actually interested in.  There is still not a ton of releases, but hopefully something you like.  My choices are highlighted in Blue.  At work, I am in the middle of budget season and my time is limited, but I will find time for a few of these selections.  Let me know what I missed and what you are interested in listening to this week.  Thanks and have a great weekend.

  • 616DTDnRtSL._AC_US436_QL65_  Dee Snider – For the Love of Metal – (Napalm Records):  Dee Snider’s last release, We Are the Ones, was exceptional.  This one is supposed to be harder and better so we will be popping it on first on the way to work.  Let’s hope another great album has been made.  If the below song is any indication, it will be.

  • 817yyfE8W5L._SX522_  Halestorm – Vicious – (Atlantic Record):  Lzzy Hale and the boys are back in full force.  It feels like it has been ages since new music, but it has only been 3 years since the last album and a little over a year since the last E.P., but that is too long for me.  When this band turns it up, watch out, they will blow your ears off and this sounds like it will do just that.

  • 910ZqlRq8DL._AC_UL320_SR320,320_  Daughtry – Cage to Rattle – (19 Recordings):  Talk about being away too long, Daughtry haven’t released an album in 5 years.  I almost forgot about them.  Hopefully this release will remind me of what they can do.  They have never changed the world with their music, but they have a knack for writing pretty dang catchy songs with a little edge to them.  And sometimes that is all I want.

  • 5190402yLBL._SS500  Kenny Chesney – Songs For the Saints – (Blue Chair Records):
  • 610m0JKYyqL._AC_US436_QL65_  Cody Jinks – Lifers – (Rounder Records)
  • 51+TKTktJQL._AC_US436_QL65_  Boz Scaggs – Out of the Blues – (Concord Records)
  • 51pzGdtkq1L._AC_US436_QL65_  Rise Against – The Ghost Note Symphonies, Vol 1 – (Virgin Records)
  • 71pVPkYqENL._SX522_  Otep – KULT 45 – (Napalm Records)
  • 917myMmtmHL._SX522_  Michael Romeo – War of the Worlds, Pt 1 – (Music Theories)

      1. I preordered the new Slash album…
They dropped the new track ‘Drivin Rain” straight with the preorder…
Great rock track and better yet it’s the 8th song on the new album…thats a good sign!

        1. Nice! I actually haven’t heard the new song yet, but will be looking for it on Apple to stream it.
I just pre-ordered the Matt Nathanson album which doesn’t come out until Oct 5th, and included is the 10″ Vinyl of the Def Leppard cover EP he did that I reviewed a few weeks back…super excited about that.

  1. I did quite like the Dee track you posted but I heard another that was quite bad. Something fishy about the whole thing… all the reviews I’ve read have been great though so don’t be put off by silly old me!

  2. I ordered Halestorm and like Boz Scaggs, Michael Romero, Black Space Riders, Chris Caffery, Hangman’s Chair and Redemption.
If I see Dee Snider’s new album I’m not gonna take, not gonna take it awnymore.
