The last Friday of August and we go out with a little bang. Not a huge bang. September is going to be huge so get ready for the ton of new releases coming your way. There are a handful I am interested in this week and those will be highlighted in Blue as usual. Let me know what you want to hear or you are going to get. Leave me a comment because I always miss some good releases. I hope you have a great weekend and Happy Listening!!!
- The Veer Union – Decade II: Rock & Acoustic – (Rock Shop Entertainment): This is a greatest hits package with a heavy side and a softer, acoustic side. I have enjoyed Crispin Earl’s vocals (and only original member) so I will give this one spin. I was hoping for new music, but this will do for now. I will admit, I do like the cover of “Numb” by Linkin Park. That might be worth it all by itself.
- Alice Cooper – A Paranormal Evening at the Olympia Paris (Live) – (earMusic): I am hoping to see Alice here in Charlotte in October and this will be a great way to prep for his live show. Alice’s last studio album ‘Paranormal” was absolutely FANTASTIC!! His band is also awesome and live, it is one helluva a show. Can’t wait!!
- Steve ‘n’ Seagulls – Grainsville – (Steve ‘n’ Seagulls / Universal): Ok, Steve ‘n’ Seagulls is a novelty act that I just love. The turn Rock & Metal songs into Bluegrass music and no one does it better. Literally, there is no one else that does this. So, put on your overalls and get ready for a hoedown Steve ‘n’ Seagull style!!! This is digital only this week. CD will be out in a couple weeks.
- Passenger – Runaway – (Black Crow Records)
- Iron & Wine – Weed Garden – (Sub Pop Records)
- Alkaline Trio – Is this Thing Cursed? – (Epitaph)
- The Band – Music From Big Pink (50th Anniversary) – (Capitol Records)
- Amos Lee – My New Moon – (Dualtone Music Group)
- Meghan Trainor – Treat Myself – (Epic Records)
- Jesus Culture – Living With a Fire (Live) – (Sparrow Records)
I’ll likely check out the Cooper and Iron & Wine releases, but that’s it. I couldn’t even tell you if there’s anything I’m particularly interested in released today!

Several people have said Iron & Wine…might need to move that up on the list.

His stuff is often really good. I still really dig his first two releases.

I’ll be checking out the Alkaline Trio record at some point and Coop is always great live… but my version of Paranormal came with a live disc already so do I need it?

IDK if you need it. Only if it has something on it you haven’t hear live, maybe.

I did check the merchandise table for this release as I thought maybe they would sneak it out but nope.
They did have signed copies of SuperDuper Alice Cooper Blu rays for 60 bucks…
Got this live album on the iPod already to go

I guess even Coop can’t break the rules on release dates! I will listen to it soon. I am working on a Worst to First list and trying to get through the band’s albums first. Only 3 more to go.

Coop maybe, and the Thou album. I probably need to get Paranormal. I didn’t do much for me on Spotify but people keep raving about it!

I liked Brutal Planet but not been much of a fan since. And I don’t listen to Brutal Planet anymore if I’m honest! Liked it at the time.

It feels like Alice Cooper is one of those artists that truly puts on a show rather than a concert – enjoy the Charlotte show!

I think you are right. I want to see it at least once to say I saw him. He isn’t getting any younger.

Sam Beam continues to put out some of the best folk rock out there under his band name Iron & Wine. Thanks for the reminder.

That is what everyone says and I have never listened to him. I will make sure to remedy that. Thanks.
