Wow! Another HUGE week of releases. There are a ton I am interested in and some I have bought already or will be very, very soon. There is a wide range of artists covering Rock, Metal, Country, R&B, Pop, Showtunes, Christian, Alternative, Hip Hop and many more. There has to be something you will be digging. If not, let me know and let me if there is. I love to know what people are in to and whether or not I am missing out on anything good. My choices are highlighted in Blue. Have a great weekend!!
Needtobreathe – Acoustic Live, Vol. 1 – (Atlantic Records): If you read my site, you know this is one of my favorite bands so it is no wonder this tops the list. The vinyl is on order and I hope I get it on release day, but doubt it since it is from the NTB webstore and not Amazon. Oh well! The album is a collection of acoustic tracks from their acoustic tour last year. All classic NTB tracks and these guys are fantastic live, so high expectations.
Chris Cornell – Chris Cornell (Deluxe) – (Universal Music): This set looks S.W.E.E.T.!! An extensive greatest hits compilation of his Soundgarden, Audioslave and Solo work among some rare treats as well. This is another must have in the physical form. It is on the Christmas list and if I don’t get it, I will immediately buy on Amazon Christmas Day.
And the rest in Blue are streamable, but not sure if I will purchase…
Nita Strauss – Controlled Chaos – (Sumerian Music): Alice Cooper’s outstanding guitarist gets own time to shine on this debut solo album. I am interested in hearing what she has to offer. There should be a lot of amazing solos and just all around greatness. Turn it up!!
P.O.D. – Circles – (Mascot Label): Boom!! The P.O.D. boys are back. After 25 years together they are still going strong. Haven’t heard anything yet (even the video below I haven’t watched) and can’t wait to put it on and see what new they bring to the table.
Mark Knopfler – Down the Road Wherever – (British Groove / Virgin EMI): Knopfler…that is enough right there. I am in!!
Michael Buble – Love – (Reprise Records): Could this be his last album? If so, I hope he goes out with a Bang! I really enjoy his voice and style and would hate to think this will be it.
Rush – Hemispheres (40th Anniversary) – (Mercury Records): The Live disc is where its at!! Give me, Give me, Give me.
and the rest…
The Greatest Showman: Reimagined Soundtrack- (Atlantic Records)
Casting Crown – Only Jesus – (Provident Label Group)
Mariah Carey – Caution – (Epic Records)
Fleetwood Mac – 50 years: Don’t Stop – (Warner Bros)
Smashing Pumpkins – Shiny and Oh So Bright, Vol 1 – (Napalm Records)
Kip Moore – Room to Spare: The Acoustic Sessions – (MCA Nashville)
The Black Eyed Peas – Masters of the Sun – (Interscope)
Glen Campbell – Glen Sings for the King – (UMe)
John Coltrane – 1963:New Directions – (Impulse)
Little Mix – LM5 – (SIMCO/Sony)
Mumford & Sons – Delta – (Glassnote Entertainment)
Old 97’s – Love the Holidays – (ATO Records)
Slim pickings this week. There’s a new Jean Michel Jarre out today that I might consider though.

I missed that one. Luckily, it is a good week for me. I would say I hope next week is better for you, but I know it won’t be as next week list is the shortest list I have ever done for a Friday Release post. Actually, it will start getting slim for about a month starting in the middle of December.

Lots of rereleases from 1968 that I half fancy – Kinks, Small Faces, Beatles …. sadly not enough cash for them all.

I can’t think of anything that I’m interested in today. I’ll check out Old 97’s and I might listen to yon Black Eyed Peas album, as I’ve liked the singles and it’s clear Fergie’s absence is a bonus.

I didn’t even know BEP were still around until I was putting the list together. I hadn’t heard anything about it. I have a few things this week so I am excited.

Yeah, I only became aware of them after SteveForTheDeaf’s post about Street Livin’ a while back. Genuinely good song. No Fergie in sight.

That is not a bad thing.

Just purchased Rush and the Stones Voodoo Lounge Uncut…I have been waiting for this Stones Live Voodoo show since 1994! Caught that tour twice that year!
Today is a good day for buying music!

Now I see why you will be getting the Stones one, that will be awesome. And today is a good day. I can’t wait for my two items to arrive and after listening to Nita this morning, I now will be getting that one.

The Rush live stuff of this deluxe is Phenomenal! Holy shit it’s like a bootleg right from the soundboard! Geddy’s Bass is mixed to the right side…Just awesome!

Maybe someday I will get that one. For now, will stream.

I already have one Cornell compilation and don’t need two. But I’d like the Nita CD…

Understandable on the Cornell one. This will be my first, so I am happy that one will be at home when I get there.
That Nita one is badass!! I listened to it this morning on the way to work and it was sensational. She ends with a cover of Queen’s The Show Must Go On and nails it. I didn’t pre-order this one, but a trip to the record store this weekend will solve that.

This is the second great thing I’ve heard about Nita today. Gotta get it. Yep.
(Rush too, but later.)

I like Buble as well – his Christmas album will inevitably be in our house rotation in a couple weeks!

Not sure I am ready for Christmas music yet.

I’d make playing Christmas music before December 1st a capital offence when I’m king.

Wow, Chris Cornell’s son is very brave to feature in his new video. A fitting tribute to his dad.

You are missing the following albums:
Memphis May fire- Broken (hard rock)
Amongst the Giants- Obscene (SCREAMO METAL)
Mumford and Sons- (alternative)
And Set For The Fall- Still just breathing (Hard rock)
I personally didn’t like these releases but we’re fairly popular and surprised you missed them.

I don’t know why I completely missed those. I tend to only include bands that I know anything about, and I know about those. Thanks for the adds.
