Friday New Releases – November 30th

The last Friday of November and Christmas is just around the corner which means one thing.  Album releases start to become relatively scarce. You want to drop your album early enough that it makes it on people’s Christmas list, but not too late where no one will grab it as they have spent all their money already on Christmas presents.  Now, there isn’t a whole lot I care about this week and in fact, there is only one.  Some of the other might get a listen sooner or later.  Have a great day and let me know what you are interested in hearing.  Mine is in Blue.

  • 61WAzq7sdaL._AC_US320_QL65_.jpg   Def Leppard – The Story So Far – (Virgin EMI/Mercury):  Def Leppard is bringing yet another greatest hits release.  Just what we needed, right?  Well….not really.  However, that doesn’t stop me from buying it.  I have it on pre-order for the vinyl so I can’t get the 7″ Single of their Depeche Mode cover of “Personal Jesus”.  Yes, I am becoming a completist with Def Leppard.  Anyway, this is a pretty complete greatest hits package and not a bad one to get if you don’t have on yet.  Enjoy!!

  1. I’ll be checking out the Bryan Ferry album and the Bowie release. I remember watching that performance at Glastonbury thinking “oh my word, Matilda! this has blown my mind”.

Big one for me today is Jakob Skott’s Instrumentality, so I’ll check that out later.

I’ll likely check out the Neil Young release, too.

    1. I am glad there is a bunch for you today. I will check out the Bowie, but outside of that, nothing was tickling my fancy (well of course Lep, but for me that goes without saying even if it is another greatest hits….can’t wait for the new tracks).

  2. Not much here…
Lep is the new KISS/Aero in regards to doling out Hits comp after Hits comp…
I think in the track listing I seen ‘Rock On’ listed? Like really??
But for the completist like yourself Leppard loves you! haha…
And as u said a good starting point if you don’t have much Leppard stuff…

    1. What is sad is I bought the Vinyl so I could get the 7″ Single of “Personal Jesus” (well that isn’t the sad part), but the Vinyl isn’t the deluxe edition, So, I will need to buy the 2 CD set to get the full greatest hits package…Damn Lep!!! Take my money, please just take it!!

  3. I think we’ve reached that point in the year where there’s bugger all ‘new’ coming out worth paying attention to and the old Festivus-gift-ready compilations start spilling out everywhere instead. I think I’ve still got ‘Vault’ on cassette somewhere – is there much since then that’s worth hearing?

    1. Yeah, this is now a crap time for releases. And yes, Lep has some good stuff since the Vault. Slang is a great album as well as their last self-titled album. There is a smattering of good songs among the other albums.
