I realized I have been making a lot of purchases and yet not everything makes its way on to the site. I figured I would do a wrap up each month of all my purchasing I have made even if they made it on the site during the month or even might make it on to the site down the road.
I like to buy vinyl, but I will also pick up CDs as well because sometimes those albums are not on vinyl and sometimes the CD package gives me a little more than the vinyl would like having a DVD included. One such release was done for that very reason.
The first being The Traveling Wilburys. I couldn’t believe I didn’t have these albums on vinyl and I could probably get them; however, I was at the record store and in the used section was The Traveling Wilburys Collection which included both albums and a DVD with a brief documentary and some music videos and all for a price well cheaper than getting these on vinyl with no DVD. I grabbed it!!
Next up was one I have been wanting to grab as well on vinyl, but when I saw this on CD and at the price, I grabbed it. I got it for less than $8 and considering the album is over $80 now (at least on Amazon), I thought who needs a vinyl. The album is Jimmy Page & the Black Crowes Live at the Greek. I had heard a lot of good things about it, so why not.
I did buy a couple albums this month as well. First up is the debut solo album of Bear Rinehart from Needtobreathe. His side project is called Wilder Woods and it is a little R&B, a little Soul, a little Pop and a little Rock all blended together. There might be a review in the near future of this one.
Another vinyl I picked up was a sealed copy of Cheap Trick’s 2016 studio album called “Bang Zoom Crazy…Hello”. It was 50% off and only $9. Sold!!!
The final bunch of albums are all on CD and when you see them you know that they will be showing up on this site down the road for the David Coverdale Series that is currently going on.
The first two were used and a buy one get one free which and I think I paid only $13 for the both of them.
David Coverdale / Whitesnake – Restless Heart
David Coverdale – Into the Light
What stinks about the Restless Heart and Into the Light CDs is that I had those at one time and when I turned in to an idiot and got rid of all my CDs so went those. But, I have them again and that is all that matters.
These next two were new copies. I was out and about and saw them and was surprised as usually you only see Whitesnake’s older albums. Since they were both there and calling my name, I answered back with a purchase.
Whitesnake – The Purple Tour (another one with a DVD included with the CDs)
Whitesnake – Flesh & Blood (Deluxe Version)
And as far as the David Coverdale series goes, I am only missing 3 studio albums and a bunch of live albums, so I hope to have them all by the time the series finishes…at least that is the goal.
Speaking of goals, I have a goal to pick up a bootleg album from every Kiss tour. While I was in Florida a couple weeks ago, I came across one and passed on it because it was so expensive. I am kicking myself a little, but I have to set my limits as well. I hope I come across it again some day a little cheaper (under $100 would be nice).
And those were my August purchases. Some of these you will definitely see again and others it all depends if I get around to reviewing them. I hope you enjoyed this look at my monthly purchases and maybe I will continue this every month.
Thanks.
Nice scores. especially around Coverdale/Snake.
I also heard the Wilder Woods album on Spotify based on a previous post you put up and enjoyed Light Shine In, What Gives You The Right and Religion.

Cool. Glad you liked some of it. I am still compiling my thoughts on a review of that one.

I think Restless Heart is the only Cov studio that I’m missing. I had it but got rid cause it was shite… but now I’d like it to complete the collection. Hope I see one in the wild! What others of his are you missing?

Yeah, it kind of sucks. I am still missing a few studio albums (Good to Be Bad, Forevermore and Purple) and a bunch of the live albums both Snake and Deep Purple. I am getting there though.

I’ve got loads of live Purple but there are quite a few live Snake ones I’m missing like the Made In… ones they did and I think there was a Purple live too? I’m not that fussed about their current live stuff though so I’ll probably do without. I think the last one I got was the Live In The Shadow… and that was just for the studio stuff really. It was decent though.

The last one I bought other than the Purple one was Live…in the Still of the night. It was really good (plus I don’t think i bought it. I think I won it on a website…even better).

I’ve got that too! That was the one on DVD right? With the bonus CD? I get confused with all their Live In The… titles!

This is a post I will look forward to each month! Tweeter and the Monkey Man was covered by the Headstones. Check it out on youtube John. It’s a pretty damn good cover version.
Man, sounds like you got a ton of Snake. I’m nowhere near that but I will say Flesh and Blood is a very solid album and I had given up on Dave coming up with anything good other than how he makes box sets which is amazing!
Awesome stuff…
$100 for a KISS bootleg is steep. Check out Discogs.

Assuming I actually buy stuff each month. Who am I kidding…of course I will.
And I will check out that cover.

SOme great purchases here. I just played Restless Heart this week actually. It is due for a deluxe reissue with all the B-sides, incidentally.
I have not played Into the Light in some time. Earl Slick on guitar I think? I have very little recollection of it, except maybe I thought it was too modern? Who knows — I can’t remember!

I have heard a rumor that they might be recording that alb with the current line up.
I haven’t played into the light lately either but I think I liked it. It is not Whitesnake that is for sure.

Yeah I remember that it wasn’t Whitesnake. It came out in a weird period of rock, a lot of solo albums that didn’t sound much like the original bands. Geoff Tate comes to mind.

It was an interesting time. Michael Sweet solo albums come to mind as well as they weren’t as heavy as Stryper and a little sappy at times.

Sweet and Sappy would be a great name for an album by Micheal!
At least you would know what your buying!

Cool. I’ll just wait on the Restless Heart deluxe then!

Car mostly. I am in it for about 1 1/2 + hours a day. I also have a nice little set up in my home office I enjoy on the weekends.

$9 sealed LP from 2016? That’s unheard of – and Cheap Trick, even better!

I know! Amazing I found something from all the way back then still sealed!! I remember I found a Winger II album from about 1989 or 90 (somewhere around that time) that was sealed. I debated for about 2 seconds on whether to open it or not. I caved pretty fast and popped it on the turntable for a spin. I figured it was waiting for me all this time so might as well let it do what it was made to do.

I think that’s what Winger II would have wanted!

I didn’t realise that Black Crowes & Page CD was so expensive… I have / had a copy of that here somewhere. Pretty good in places, if not consistent.

It is the RSD release that is expensive on vinyl. I figured I would go with the CD instead.
