Friday New Releases – September 13th

Welcome to Friday new releases on this Friday the 13th.  And let me tell you this is a lucky Friday…no bad news here.  There are an abundance of releases this week that I am excited about and it might be the best week in quite a long time or even all year.  There are over 25 on this list and maybe 1/2 I am interested in at listening to once. How long is that going to take…it could be next September.  My choices will be highlighted in Blue.  Let me know what you see that you like and what I might be missing (could there be anything???).  Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!

The most important…

  • 717mqiZN3dL._SX522_  The Defiants – Zokusho – (Frontiers Records):  Man, I am super excited about this one.  Paul Laine and the Danger Danger boys are back with their second release and if it is half as good as the debut, then we are in for a treat.  The first 3 songs they have previewed are sensational!!  So expectations are HIGH!!  I don’t usually listen to songs that are previewed on albums I am anxious about, but I could wait.  If you like 80’s brand rock with modern productions, you will be in for a treat.

  • A1EaP+943DL._SX522_.jpg  Tom Keifer – Rise – (Cleopatra Music): The voice of Cinderella is back with his 2nd solo album.  His first was fantastic and nothing less is expected on this one.  His blues rock and the gravely voice is just what the doctor ordered so grab a copy and crank it up.  A great weekend is ahead.

  • disciplealbum2019.jpg  Disciple – Love Letter Kill Shot – (Tooth & Nail Records):  Are you ready for some Christian metal?  I thought you were.  Hold on tight and get ready rock.  This is their 12th album and they are still going strong.  What I have heard doesn’t show any signs of slowing down.  Give it a listen.

  • 819QJ8rYPCL._AC_UL115_.jpg  The Glorious Sons – A War On Everything – (Black Box Recordings/BMG):  We ain’t done yet.  There is still one more that is crucial and Glorious Sons is just that.  Their hard rock with a hint of southern rock sound is worth checking out.  I haven’t heard anything off this one yet, but I am sure I won’t be disappointed, I mean how could I be?  Give them a try while you are diving in to all of these.

And here is a bunch more that I am interested in hearing, but will be behind the 4 above…

  • 81wN4dMNiFL._SX522_.jpg  Starset – Divisions – (Fearless Records): I like these guys.  Very modern electronica rock, but a really cool sound.  I have enjoyed their last couple albums so why not give them a shot on this one as well.

  • 91n4EaPteZL._SS500_  Puddle of Mudd – Welcome to Galvania – (Pavement Entertainment):  Hard to believe it has been 10 years since the last one.  Wes Scantlin has had his troubles, we will see how it has all turned out.

  • c4c526_886c0de99ecc4d4bb8d139132d85cbd6_mv2_d_2000_2000_s_2.jpg  Alice Cooper – Breadcrumbs E.P. – (earMusic):  Alice Cooper…enough said!!!

No video…sorry!

  • 81KkVyRrlmL._AC_UL115_.jpg  KXM – Circle of Dolls – (Rat Pak Records):  More from George Lynch, Ray Luzier and dUg Pinnick.  Third album and will give it a try although I haven’t been blown away by anything yet…there is always hope.

  • A1cdJlEeL4L._SS500_.jpg  Leeland – Better World (Live) – (Integrity Music):  Good Christian pop and usually have some great songs to add to the playlist.  This is a live album so I could get in to this.

  • 71oj29grouL._SX522_.jpg  Big Daddy Weave – When the Light Comes – (Curb / Word Entertainment):  More Christian pop music.  These guys are quite fun and can lift you when you are down.  Worth a spin.

  • 61GGWrpYrnL._SX522_  The Goo Goo Dolls – Miracle Pill – (Warner Records): You think I would have given up on them, but I always give a listen in hopes that some glory can be recaptured…expectations are pretty low on this one.

And all the rest…

  • 81bGAubkWVL._AC_UL115_.jpg  Prince – The VERSACE Experience Prelude 2 Gold – (NPG Records)
  • 81FZGrCyrLL._AC_UL115_.jpg  Crashdiet – Rust – (Frontiers Records)
  • 71YQYoFnImL._SX522_  Tiger Army – Retrofuture – (Rise Records)
  • download-1  Korn – The Nothing – (Elektra Records)
  • 910ADcirz1L._SX522_  Joseph – Good Luck, Kid – (ATO Records)
  • 71RLF00FxuL._SX522_  The 69 Eyes – West End – (Nuclear Blast)
  • 81koibf9QJL._SX522_  The Lumineers – III – (Dualtone Music Group)

  1. Things are picking up John! Kiefer indeed as Mikey is onboard with Tom as well!
The Cult Sonic Temple Delux is out today kinda. By that I mean Itunes has it but the actual 5 CD set isn’t out till Oct 18th? The LP version of the box set is available now but not the CD set!
Still, though some more rock stuff is coming our way

    1. Yep, they are picking up for sure! Finally! I will be busy for a while with this line-up today. The STP set was supposed to be today as well, but was moved like the Cult one. I little disappointed with that, but I still have a lot to hear. The Defiants CD should be at home when I get there!! Excited about some great 80’s throwback.

  2. Wow. A ton of good music today. Also Brant Bjork (re release), Mike Patton, Pixies, Mob Rules, Steve Vai, Belinda Carlisle, Belle & Sebastian and 2 other Prince albums(Chaos and Disorder, Emancipation).
I will be buying a bunch. Also, I will be seeing The Hu in Toronto. I will buy their album at the show even though I think they really dropped the ball on the album title. It could have been Hu Are Yu, Hu By Numbers, The Hu Sell Out, Hu’s Next, Hu’s Last, The Story of The Hu, Horton Hears a Hu or Cindy Lu Hu (with Taylor Momsen as guest of course).
