Airbourne released their 5th album, ‘Boneshaker’, on October 25, 2019 and they delivered an album that is a fist to the face, elbow to the gut, knee to the balls rock & roll album in the vein of AC/DC that will have you cranking the volume as high as it will go so you can hear every distorted guitar note, head-pounding drum beat, wall vibrating bass notes and Joel O’Keefe’s Bon Scott/Brian Johnson style vocals and lyrics that scream Sex, Drugs and Rock & Roll and also give you the longest run-on sentence I could possibly come up with while writing this review for you, my favorite people in the blogging world.

There is no need going through every song, one by one, because Airbourne only know how to deliver one style of song and that style is loud and guitar heavy rock & roll.  As the sticker on the front of the album states…

…and they are not lying.  This next line might sound bad, but it is true and is actually what I love about the band.  If you’ve heard one ‘Airbourne’ album you have heard them all.  They are unapologetically bringing heavy-ass Aussie rock to the world and that is actually what I love about them.

The songs titles, well, they are exactly what you would expect.  Mentioning Rock & Roll, drinking, sex, hell and every other cliche in the book.  It is awesome!!

The single LP actually came in a gate-fold and I have to say the picture inside is a full-length band picture that is quite striking and artistically beautiful. The band standing  in front of a wall with the word “Beer” across it which is in a parking lot while a couple guys smoke.  The lights off the cars and the overall color of the picture makes it one of the best gate-fold pictures I have seen in very long time.

The was an insert in the album that has the song lyrics on one side and some pictures of the band and the ‘thank-you’s’ on the other side.  Simple, but nice to have.

And the vinyl stickers for Side 1 and Side 2 mimic the front and back album covers.

Okay, now for a quick review the material.  The album is a bit rawer and less polished then the last couple albums which is a plus and the opening track “Boneshaker” is a pure ball-buster for sure.  And I love the theme of “Weapons of War” as it tackles PTSD.  However, overall the album’s songs are not quite as strong as the last album ‘Breakin’ Outta Hell’ which I thought was one of their best.  This one falls a little short although it is still fantastic, but the last album was a little more cohesive than this one felt.

Still a must have for fans, but I don’t know if it will attract many new fans.  I will give it a 3.0 out of 5.0 Stars and now that they have at least 5 albums, maybe it is time to do an album ranking on the band.  Also, the band is supposed to come to the States in 2020 and do some touring. I hope they come close to Charlotte because these guys live seems to be a sight to see!
