Friday New Releases – August 14, 2020

It is Hot! Hot! Hot! I’m talking about the weather though and not the new releases. There are a bunch this week, but nothing I am “hot” over.  Maybe lukewarm.  My choices are highlighted in Blue.  Hopefully there is something here that will get you hot and excited about.  If so, let me know what it is and let me know what I may have missed on the list so other people can see.  Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a wonderful weekend.  Stay Cool!!

  • 91fueI6vNPL._SS500_  Adelitas Way – Shine On – (Vegas Syn / The Fuel Music):  Adelitas Way isn’t an exciting rock band, but they are consistent.  They have decent songs and there is always a few good songs worth grabbing and throwing in to a playlist. For that fact, I will give them a spin.

  • 910MrctHG9L._SS500_  Biffy Clyro – A Celebration of Endings – (14th Floor Records / Warner Music);  This band came on my radar some years back when my brother-in-law engineered one of their albums.  They a pretty interesting as they don’t settle on one thing, they like to try new things.  These boys from Scotland always bring something worth while to the table and here is hoping for something new and awesome to digest!

  • download-17  Tori Kelly – Solitude E.P. – (Capitol Records / Schoolboy):  Now this one isn’t one I am really interested even though Tori is an amazing singer, but it is one my oldest daughter is so I know I will hear it.  Tori has powerful vocal abilities and is an amazing talent.  Since my daughter has met her and seen her in concert a couple times, this will be played quite often around the house.

How about some 80’s artist still going strong…

  • 81RT1yv+RSL._SX522_  Bruce Hornsby – Non-Secure Connection – (Zappo Productions / Thirty Tigers)

  • 81-9XPfxf2L._SX522_  Gloria Estefan – Brazil305 – (Crescent Moon Records)

And the rest…

  • A1HChspJIrL._SS500_  Nick Perri & the Underground Thieves – Sun Via – (Underground Thieves LLC):  This one sounds interesting…very bluesy, I probably should change this to blue as it might get a listen.

  • 81H8YUyv+4L._SS500_  Ingested – Where Only Gods May Tread – (Unique Leader Records)

  • 91s-j8JACeL._SS500_  Kamelot – I Am the Empire (Live from the O13) – (Napalm Records)

  • 91JK863tNkL._SX522_  We the Kingdom – Holy Water – (Sparrow Records / Capitol)

  • download-15  RaeLynn – Baytown E.P. – (Tree Vibez Records / AWAL Recordings)

  • 61yAfWhrT6L._SS500_  Mo Pitney – Ain’t Lookin’ Back – (Curb Records)

  1. Bruce Hornsby is still making music? Bobcat Goldthwait and Robin Williams must have given him one hell of a boost with World’s Greatest Dad.

  2. John do yo remember that Friday back in May when in one day RUSH/LEPPARD with two live albums and Vandenberg all released albums.
I said it was a stellar Friday for Rock.
    Since than…
    Nothing…
Thanks though as I always look here before I head to iTunes..

    1. I know, it has not been a good Summer at all for releases. Fall is usually better, but still there isn’t a ton I am overly excited about. I am glad you still come and check out the releases!! Much appreciated.

  3. I like Nick Perry. Don’t mind Ingested and like the sound of Holly Pitney in above video.

Also today is an EP from Halestorm and most importantly a new album from King Buzzo.

I will be buying King Buzzo and maybe Nick Perry.

I just got a bunch of musical parcels in the mail, ordered the new Scorpions Wind Of Change boxset, and might be buying Metallica drive-in tickets today, so I must be at my limit.

    1. Ha! I haven’t ordered the Scorpions yet. I would like to get the Linkin Park box set, but it is pricey for the mack daddy set.

I just saw the Halestorm one and listened to it. It is pretty good. Not sure how I missed that one.

  4. There are only 2020 of the Scorpions sets so they should sell out if they have not already.
Expensive for a glorified single, but the book should be cool and the whole relationship to the fall of the Berlin Wall, including an actual piece in the set.

I did not know about the Linkin Park boxset.
Most bloggers I know don’t like the band, but I liked Chester’s voice, so I might consider it.

As for Halestorm, they are becoming, if they are not already, a band that wants us to buy too many cover albums, and re-recorded material, so I will probably wait for a new release of original material.

    1. Can I order that Scorpions in the US? There only seems to be one site that sells it.

That is one thing I like about Halestorm is that between each album, they do an E.P. to hold fans over until they finish the album. I think I’m okay with it. But i stream the E.P.’s and don’t buy them so I guess I’m not spending money which is okay with me.

      1. I looked around and could only order from that site (which I think is the Scorps merch site).
I ordered to have it shipped to Canada, so it should be the same to USA.

I think a band weakens their image by doing to many covers and re-recordings.
But what do I know, I’m not in a band.
