Friday New Releases – October 30, 2020

The day before you and I have a bunch of treats and absolutely No Tricks!! We have around 30 new releases for you this week! Tell me that is not a Treat!! The time changes this weekend as well so you will have a whole extra hour to listen to music. Am I looking out for you or what!!! I have a handful of items I want to hear and they are highlighted in Blue. Let me know what you want to hear and if there was anything I may have missed. Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful, safe, and socially distanced Halloween and great weekend. Until next week!

  • download-18  Black Stone Cherry – The Human Condition – (Mascot Label Group): Now I’m not a massive Black Stone Cherry Fan, but they do put out consistently great material. For that, I will give this a listen as I do love that heavy, southern rock sound. I am kind of a sucker for it so they will be first up this morning.
  • 61MxWQR6cYL._SX522_  Thin Lizzy – Rock Legends Box Set – (Universal UK): Now here is a box set you need to get. I believe there are 99 songs and 74 have never been released. Yeah, that is sort of sweet!! Plus, it is Thin Lizzy so what other reason do you need to buy this…maybe a cheaper price as currently this is cost prohibitive. If the price drops, so will my cash.
  • 51nv8n7XYQL._SS500_  U2 – All That You Can Leave Behind (20th Anniversary Edition)  – (Island Records / Universal). Is this the last good U2 album…maybe. For that reason, I am interested in this one as well. Again, another box set so at the right price, I’m all over it…just not right now. Too many box sets out this time of year. There is a problem of my funds aren’t unlimited.
  • 618llaM6MDL._SX522_  Stevie Nicks – Live in Concert: The 24 Karat Gold Tour – (Stevie Nicks / BMG): I’ll give this a listen as who doesn’t love Stevie Nicks. No one, that is who!! I don’t know if she’s done a live album before so that is another interesting reason to give this a try.

And then there are a couple more I will try when I get around to it…and I know some people that will be listening to these two as well.

  • 6149cDWqfXL._SS500_  Mr Bungle – The Raging Wrath of the Easter Bunny – (IPECAC Recordings)
  • A1QS2Y80UsL._SS500_  Pantera – Reinventing the Steel (20th Anniversary) – (Elektra / Rhino)

And then all the rest…

  • 81SxofPOD8L._SX522_  Yes – The Royal Affair Tour (Live in Las Vegas) – (Yes / BMG)

  • 81kOF3GbwQL._SS500_  Puscifer – Existential Reckoning – (Alchemy Records / BMG)
  • 91zgcHob1FL._SX522_  Carcass – Despicable E.P. – (Nuclear Blast)
  • 71srpGVAtyL._SS500_  Lilac – Queen of Hearts – (Lilac)

  1. Lot’s of releases coming out now. Those top 3 I’m interested in BSC, Thin Lizzy and U2 (for the live stuff) but I will will wait it out for now as I have a book and 2 records on preorder from Amazon. Thanks for the heads up on this stuff John.

  2. Bungle and Pantera are must buys for me. I can’t believe that Megan Trainor lady is still around. Crap in a sea of crap. You gotta roll with the punches and gets to what’s real.

      1. The last time I ever heard of her was that “Lips Are Blowing” song from 2014. I thought she was a has been. Good for her for finding continued success I guess.

Speaking of being a has been, Greta Van Fleet’s fifteen minutes are up. I only knew they had a new song because I searched them up wondering what the hell happened to them. I wonder if that horrible SNL performance did them in.

        1. We will see if they are has beens. The new song isn’t terrible. Curious on the full album. I saw them live and they put on a great show. The guitar player was awesome and the highlight of the show.

          1. Interesting. They were great live? That SNL performance never would have led me to that conclusion. They’ve deleted a bunch of dislikes and comments from that video, but I remember a guy saying “They’re copying Led Zeppelin so much that they even suck live just like them.”

The singer looked like a deer in headlights. All bug eyed starring up at the ceiling not moving the lower half of his body, then at one point awkwardly swinging his mic around his mouth while not changing his wide-eyed terrified expression. That was the most movement we saw out of him that whole performance. The band couldn’t even finish together, sloppy as hell. I get being nervous on a show surprisingly a lot of people still watch, but I’m surprised he didn’t pass out from locking his knees.

              1. It was January last year which was the peak of their popularity according to Google trends and my own memory of them getting press coverage around that time.

  3. A lot of classic artists this week. I’m really looking forward to the deluxe Who album. They are number 2 to me right next to the Beatles.

      1. I have last year’s WHO album…I’m sure I’ll like this package. There are a lot on this list that I want to listen to.

        1. Yep it was. Waited an extra month and still nothing and Amazon cancelled.
Than a week later it was added at a decent price but I gave up on getting it and bought some stuff off of iTunes…

  4. Some others are Best Of Black Sabbath, Volume 4 (redux), Uriah Heep boxset.

I have the Motorhead and Thin Lizzy on order. I will probably get Mr Bungle, Pantera and a few others.
Plus I’m curious about the Midnight Oil and their Macarena Project.

  5. That’s the last U2 I have – I enjoyed it, but sort of lost interest after it. Could be persuaded to revisit though of course. Definitely more treats than tricks, something tells me the Who’s Live at Kingston isn’t referencing Kingston, Ontario!
