2021 is upon us and it is always fun anticipating what new albums are and will come out in the year. There are quite a few we already know about, but some haven’t been officially announced or even a date set yet.
Last year, there were a few artist I was hoping would release an album that might have or might not have released one. It is always fun to hope for new music from these bands, but were disappointments. Here is who I was hoping for new albums from last year and what actually happened…
- Def Leppard – We did get the Def Leppard Box Set for The Early Years and the Live Box Set London to Vegas, BUT NOPE!! STILL NOTHING NEW!!
- Kiss – NOTHING!!
- Van Halen – NO! Sadly, this won’t happen with Eddie’s passing. I am now hoping for archive music.
- The Winery Dogs – NOTHING!! Still keeping my hopes up
- Guns ‘N Roses – NOTHING!!! Rumors, Rumors, Rumors!!
- Talisman – after getting a song to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of the death of Marcel Jacob in 2019… NO ALBUM, we did get more Jeff Scott Soto music though.
- AC/DC – YES!! We got POWER UP and it is awesome!!
- Motley Crue – I thought with a Big Tour in 2020 with Def Leppard & Poison…is a new album far behind??? NOPE – No Music, No Tour thanks to Covid!!
- Poison – Same as Motley statement above!!! No Music, No Tour thanks to Covid!!
- Aldo Nova – He kept talking about a 2CD set, but he never got around to releasing it?? NOPE..still talking. He has released some songs, but still no album!!
- Matt Nathanson – No New Music but we got a Live album and a Christmas album
- Needtobreathe – YES!!! We got the incredible OUT OF BODY and it was one of their best!!
Okay, are there albums I want to see this year from some of my favorite bands that haven’t been announced or in some cases even rumored? Of course there are. These are the bands I want new albums from this year…but it might not happen.
- Def Leppard – I don’t care if I get new music, but give me The Collection Volume 3 at least!!!
- Kiss – I will keep this on the list until I die!!
- The Winery Dogs – Still keeping my hopes up
- Guns ‘N Roses – Rumors, Rumors, Rumors!!
- Aldo Nova – He keeps talking about a 2CD set, but will he get around to releasing it??
- Matt Nathanson – Loved what we got last year, but time for new music!!! I believe he finished recording it, but haven’t heard anything for a long while.
From what I have gathered around the internet, here are the bands that should have new albums out in 2021, but no dates announced yet. The ones I would give a try (and my kids) will be highlighted in Blue. The ones with Dates Announced are at the bottom of this post. The list is building up nicely!!

Even if they’re just rumors, I’m DOWN for new albums from Metallica, Iron Maiden, and Richie Sambora. Def Leppard releasing a new album in 2021 would be the high point for me if concerts don’t return by then. Omg I forgot James Durbin was planning to release a new album in 2021, thanks for the heads up John! Also the rumors part about Guns N’ Roses reminds me of when Lars Ulrich accidentally referred to them as “Guns N’ Rumors” during an interview LOL!

That was a good name for GNR. There was a lot of that for Chinese Democracy. I’m looking forward to that Durbin one as well. We will see what albums actually make it out, but if most of them do, we will have a ton of music for 2021.

True, Chinese Democracy was rumored to be released on a certain date, then it got pushed back etc. That would be nice if those albums are for real! I heard the two tracks Durbin has released so far (Kings Before You and The Prince of Metal). The latter gives me Iron Maiden and Judas Priest vibes. Defintely worth checking out!

I have Sabbath Vol 4 and Holy Diver Live pre-ordered. Looking forward to the new Greta Van Fleet and Alice Cooper. That new Saxon sounds like it will be a covers album which I dig. Good stuff to look forward to already this year!

I have the W.E.T. album on order and that is the only one so far. I need to get on the pre-order train and get some more.

There is usually a pretty good discount when you do. You can always send it back with amazon’s return policy.

Yeah, the have an easy return policy, I like it.

Gotta get Vol 4. I just ordered a bunch of the prior Dio reissues.

Do the Dio reissues have bonus tracks?

Yes sir, and not redundant ones to things I already have, so it seems. Full report next week when the parcel arrives.

What about the new ‘tallica album? And Giant is on the list for releases this year. I love Giant! Their first 3 albums anyway.

I don’t remember seeing the new Metallica mentioned on any site, but I might have heard that before. I will have to go add that one. I had no idea about Giant, but another good add. Thanks.

Metallica was actually on the list. I guess I did get that one. I did add Giant.

Wow, thanks for doing your homework and putting this together! I’m kinda tired on Aldo yapping and yapping and yapping.
I’m hoping this thing with Sykes and his music pans out as I want it to be good so Coverdale pukes lol. Not that David would ever admit it.
Tried the Kotzen/Smith tune and did not do it for some reason.
By the looks of it lots of tunes so lets hope for the best shall we!
For the first time in a long time I have zippo on preorder from Amazon! lol
That may change

I have the W.E.T. album on order (no surprise as it is Soto). I need to add the Sykes as a rumoured. David would hate it if Sykes has a good album. I haven’t heard the Kotzen yet and now I am no rush.
Right now I have enough Queen and Priest to listen to for a long while. Listening to Rocka Rolla now and some good songs and not what I expected.

That’s awesome your discovering some Priest stuff. Look forward to some Priest reviews down the road.

Me too. It will probably be in February before we get the first review…same with Queen. I am taking a big bite with doing three series at once. Only Kiss will be weekly (and maybe thru June), the other two will not. I gave myself the whole year to get through those.

2021’s looking good already! Been waiting for that Kaleo album since forever too. Happy new year! 🙂

Extreme!! Finally, well overdue. I hope for the best on that. A promising 2021, and I would always keep Kiss on that list too. Because hey, ya never know. I don’t think they have much on their calendar as of today.

Lots of good ones potentially. Maybe Kiss will give us yesterday’s show on DVD? Lep better give us the volume 3 collection. I don’t have any of those albums on vinyl.
LikeLiked by 1 person
Well yesterday’s show is coming on Blu-Ray for those who paid whatever, and vinyl for those who paid $1000…
I think we will see the Lep this year. We shall see what happens. David Coverdale will have a couple things out that will be nice to have too, we can always count on Coverdale.

Yes. We can count on him.

I need to spend time with this post, it’s massive! (tht’s what she said)
There’ll also probably be at least three new GBV albums too…

The whole list could’ve been only them and it would be about the same number of albums! 🙂

It’s gbvdb.com, on the left of the page it’s broken out by release years, countries, etc. You can also search by band name, wtc. It’s all cross-referenced and giving as much info as possible. It’s an incredible project!
