You, my reader, are going to pick an album for me to review each month. It is really simple…first, I will give you 5 albums to choose from and second, you will tell me which one of those you would like to see reviewed on the site. See…simple!
There are a few simple rules I have put in to place in my selections. They are…
- One has to be a new release (within the last month)
- One has to be one I have never heard before (new releases don’t count for this one)
- One has to be from a genre I don’t normally listen to at all or very often
- And the last two are choices from my collection that I haven’t reviewed before
What are the 5 albums you ask? Funny you should ask because I have those right here…
New Release – Durbin – ‘The Beast Awakens
Never Heard Before – Joni Mitchell – ‘Blue’
Not My Normal Genre – Outkast – ‘Stankonia’
From My Collection – Ozzy Osbourne – ‘Bark at the Moon’
From My Collection – Phil Collins – ‘Face Value’
Let me know which one you would like to see and sometime in March, I will post a review of the album that gets the most votes. You have one week to decide and from there I will start listening to the album and do a review.
Thanks for participating!!
Face Value because I can never decide whether to invest listening time into Collins’ solo career.

If you like good, solid pop music sometimes with an edge. Then yes, Phil is worth it. The early years anyway. It comes too poppy and sappy later on.

Give my pick to the kid Durbin. Out of all the artists here he could use the review.. by the look of things he doesn’t have a chance like a snowball in hell but u never know.lol

He does need all the help he can get.

I’m tempted to say Ozzy but since I know this album, I’ll go with Outkast.

Nice, glad to see this one getting a nod.

Two Outkast in a row. Could be a very close race.

Thanks for playing. She has now been counted.

I doubt if she wins but I’ve always wanted to make it a point to listen to her stuff more. I’ve never dived in totally.

It is a very close race and no one is out of it.

I’ll vote for Blue – though Stankonia’s B.O.B. has one of the finest verses of all-time, Andre 3000’s vocals are just relentless!

I will count you towards Joni with Stankonia a nod if maybe there should a tie between it and another album other than Blue.

I’m going to go outside my comfort zone and say Phil Collins. Rob Daniels was talking about how much he loves early Phil, so let’s do it!

Alright!! I will give Phil a point. Thanks.

I’m going with Durbin. My own pre-order seems to have gone lost. It still hasn’t arrived….

That stinks. I hope it arrives soon and I will put you in for Durbin. Thanks for playing.

I’m going with Durbin of course because he was my favorite contestant on American Idol and you along with Mike and Kevin didn’t care for him much. So it’d be interesting to see if your feelings have changed since then.

I will add you in for Durbin. I’ve like some of his stuff, but he always feels like he’s trying to hard.

In a way I agree! I bought his first album when it came out in 2011 and I liked some of the songs, but over time, I lost interest (hence why I got rid of it, which I low-key regret). I still appreciate the performances he gave on American Idol and what he meant to me growing up. But now that I think about it, his screams get on my nerves for some songs.
He has a good voice, if he didn’t overdo it, then he’d be amazing!

Ozzy has been counted. I am not sure which one I really want to win this time around. I am good with any of them I think, but Ozzy is always fun.

I vote for Joni Mitchell’s ‘Blue’

I vote for Outkast just so you can open up the review with “Welcome to 2loud2oldmusic.com where ain’t nobody dope as me. I’m just so fresh, so clean.”

Thanks for playing. I will add them to the count. And if they win, I will lead with thst line. LOL.

Joni Mitchell always stops me in my tracks. When I hear a new female voice I like, the thought that comes to mind is, “I wish she would cover something from Joni Mitchell.” Three votes for JM; me, myself, and I.

I’ve never listened to her so even if she doesn’t win I need to check her out.

I’m going with Joni because I need to give that album a spin too.

This month’s voting is so close. I might have to repost a tie-breaker between Joni and Ozzy.

I might have to recruit some ringers for Joni then!

Would say Ozzy for sure, and BATM is a fine album – but will vote for Outkast.

Good choice. In this month’s contest there isn’t a clear favorite and every vote counts so thanks for playing. It is so close between each artist and album.
