Another week has gone by and now we are to our favorite day of the week. At least its mine and if you are here looking at what new music came out today, it is probably yours as well. It is always great to see what is new and what you can’t wait to drop a needle on to hear…please don’t drop a needle in your arm…that would suck!! My albums I can’t wait to list are on Blue and when I see albums, I really mean album, singular. I shouldn’t have added that “s” because there is only one I want to hear. Hopefully though, you have a bunch. Let me know what is tickling your fancy and let everyone know if there is something I missed that is out. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend.
- Paul Stanley’s Soul Station – Now And Then – (Universal Music): I am a Massive Kiss fan, so to see Paul Stanley branch out on his own is always a welcome site. This time around he is going old school R&B/Motown style with his band Soul Station. I can’t wait to see what he has in store. This might not be my normal cup of tea, but I will give it a shot as he has earned that much respect from me.
And here are the rest…some really big names starting with Mr. Bieber…
- Justin Bieber – Justice – (Def Jam Records)
- Papa Roach – Greatest Hits Vol. 2: The Better Noise Years – (Better Noise Music)
- Lana Del Ray – Chemtrails Over the Country Club – (Polydor / Universal)
- Saxon – Inspirations – (Milita Guard Music)
- Harry Connick Jr. – Alone with My Faith – (Verve Records / Capitol)
- Sting – Duets – (A&M)
- Ringo Starr – Zoom In E.P. – (Universal Music)
- Jon Batiste – We Are – (Verve Records / UMG)
- Ryan Adams – Wednesdays – (Pax American Records)
- Devon Townsend – Devolution Series #1: Acoustically Inclined Live at Leeds – (Century Media)
- U.D.O. – Live in Bulgaria 2020: Pandemic Survival Show – (AFM Records)
- The Blue Stones – Hidden Gem – (EOne Music)
- Serj Tankian – Elasticity E.P. – (United Trust of Sonic Preservation)
- Arcade Fire, Owen Pallett – Her (Original Score) – (Arcade Fire / Sony Music)
- Loretta Lynn – Still Woman Enough – (Sony Music)
- Morgan Wade – Reckless – (Ladylike Records / Thirty Tigers)
- Veronica Swift – This Bitter Earth – (Mack Avenue Records)
- Middle Kids – Today We’re the Greatest – (Domino Recording Co)
- Erra – Erra – (UNFD)
- Midland – The Sonic Ranch – (Big Machine Label Group)
- Sam Smith – Love Goes: Live at Abbey Road Studios – (Capitol Records / Universal)
I’m most interested in Lana Del Rey – I hear the new one isn’t as epically long as her last few albums.

I’ll check out Starchild’s Soul Station and give it a spin in between the Dio/Sabbath stuff lol. Heaven and Hell indeed…

I hope I get to check out something. I’m heading out in a few to tour another college with my daughter. I want to hear Soul Station, but honestly, I’m scared I’m going to hate it.

A new Loretta Lynn album? I’ll check that out. I may also check out Lana Del Rey’s new one.

Yeah, the Lynn surprised me as well. Glad to see her going strong!!

interested to hear what u and Deke think of Soul Station. So far to me the singles have felt like there is something lacking. Hopefully when hearing the whole album it all makes sense.
I’m also interested in Papa Roach release. Will look into Erra too. Never heard of them but that song sounded cool.

Not digging the Soul Station. Not my cup to tea and sounds a little Karaoke to me at times.

Ringo…because… hey he is Ringo… Lorretta Lynn because she is the nicest person I’ve ever met in my life…plus I loved her album with Jack White.

Well of course on Ringo, that is the only reason you need. I am glad to see Loretta still plugging away when she could pack it away right now and no one would think less of her. She will keep making music forever it seems.

Yeah nothing really here. While I’m a fan of Stanley and I really like his two solo albums, I’ve given this one a few listens and it almost feels soulless.
It’s like he doesn’t get soul to perform it. And there will be soul and r/b singers who don’t get the rock spirit to perform it as well.

The Stanley one is not good. He say that a new Kiss album is completely unnecessary and that is exactly what I thought this album was.

A few more tracks like Hell Or Hallelujah would be nice.

I’d take that!!

So Paul Stanley is doing Las Vegas now. At least that’s the impression I get. An interesting cover of a Beatles classic from Saxon and I thought that Ringo Starr tune was surprisingly good.

The Stanley thing is disappointing, but that is what he wanted to do thinking this was more important than a Kiss album…WRONG!!

Thanks. I have skimmed this and I think I’d rather have a Kiss album than a Soul Station album any day of the week.

I own every Harry Connick, Jr. album (and some rarities), so I’ll be getting that one eventually.

Cool. I have had a few mainly late 80’s, early 90’s stuff I think (or maybe it was all 90’s stuff, can’t remember).

His When Harry Met Sally was the first CD I ever bought. Been a fan ever since, bought them all. Saw his 1994 tour, met him, the works. It’s quite a substantial pile of CDs by now.

That was when I got in to him. Was that album and then a handful around that one. But I stopped for some reason which is a shame because he is a gifted man.

I’m gonna guess 20, We Are In Love, Blue Light Red Light, and 25. If you went to She and Star Turtle, then you went further than most.
You can usually find his stuff cheap (even in sale bins – gasp!) and they’re all worth it.

We are in Love and Blue Light, Red Light for sure!! Those were so good. I need to get those two again as they are gone.

Absolutely. Get 20, as well. I love that one and it’s an essential part of that whole early-90s bunch.

I click on Paul Stanley and Saxon covering Paperback Writer. Both equally made me cringe the same amount.
