You Pick It! – Which Album to Review in July?

You, my reader, are going to pick an album for me to review each month.  It is really simple…first, I will give you 5 albums to choose from and second, you will tell me which one of those you would like to see reviewed on the site.  See…simple!

There are a few simple rules I have put in to place in my selections.  They are…

  • One has to be a new release (within the last month)
  • One has to be one I have never heard before (new releases don’t count for this one)
  • One has to be from a genre I don’t normally listen to at all or very often
  • And the last two are choices from my collection that I haven’t reviewed before

What are the 5 albums you ask?  Funny you should ask because I have those right here…

  New Release – Maroon 5 – ‘Jordi’

Never Heard Before – Bruce Springsteen – ‘Born to Run’

Not My Normal Genre – Robert Johnson – ‘King of the Delta Blues Singers’

From My Collection – Red Hot Chili Peppers – ‘One Hot Minute’

From My Collection – Styx – ‘Paradise Theatre’

Let me know which one you would like to see and sometime in July, I will post a review of the album that gets the most votes. You have one week to decide and from there I will start listening to the album and do a review.

Thanks for participating!!

  1. Many tempting ones here John but I pick Paradise Theater because I just got in on vinyl. And I’ll do you one better — if Paradise Theater wins, I’ll review mine and we can coordinate posts together!

  2. Man, I’d be good with any of these options this month (even Adam Levine and his little band… Lol), but I’ll vote for Styx. I remember that my grandma bought little 10 year old Kyle this album. I doubt she knew any of their music, but I remember when you could walk into Wal-Mart and they would usually have the top 10 albums on display. I’m sure she saw the pretty cover, the high sales, and thought I would enjoy it… and I did.

    1. Styx has been counted. Three or four of the Styx albums I have are my brothers from way back in the day. I can’t believe I’ve kept them all this time (well I can because they are great).

      1. Right on. The 2CD is the only way to go. It’s not remastered. It’s the one I’ve had all these years. I just got used to the scratchy and popping. I don’t often say this, but any collection without the Complete Recordings boxed set in it is incomplete.

          1. Should be pretty easy to find a copy. They do make them in simple 2CD set in a 1CD-sized case. I’ve always had the long-box version with the nice book in it, the history and story is all a part of it, to me.

I have to be careful when I choose to play that set. Once I get playing it, it’s all I listen to, and it takes me a while to get into other music again when I try to change things up.

              1. Not high enough, in my book. Of course now I’ve talked it up so much you might wonder what the hell I’m on about, but to me it’s all right there. Everything. I can hear the history of a lot of the music we love in it.

  3. YOu’ve never heard Born to Run? Man, that’s a treat to look forward to. My vote was gonna go to Robert Johnson cause I’d be interested in what you’d take from that one… but I’m gonna go for my favourite Chili Peppers album.
