Friday New Releases – August 20, 2021

Happy Friday! We’ve made it through another week and not a moment too soon. I am ready for this weekend. Thankfully, we also have a ton of new releases to listen to this week (like most weeks lately. There are only a couple I really want to hear and I have marked those in Blue. There are others I’m curious about, but we will see if I have the time. Check out all the releases and let me know what you want to hear this week and let me know what album releases I may have missed. Thanks so much for stopping by and I hope you all have a wonderful weekend.

  • 81bYHjvl9vL._SS500_  Anderson East – Maybe We Never Die – (Low Country Sound / Elektra): Anderson’s last album, ‘Encore’, was exceptional. I am hoping for more of the same. If you like country mixed with soul, R&B and Americana, then this will be right up your alley. Can’t wait to give it a spin.
  • A1V5INA0ecS._SX522_  Switchfoot – Interrobang – (Fantasy Records / Concord): Switchfoot is always labeled as a Christian act, but they are so much more. They are alternative, a little post-grunge and power pop and I like it all. I am also a big fan of Jon Foreman’s vocals. I will be seeing them in concert in a couple months as they open for Needtobreathe so this will be a good show.

And here are all the rest…I will admit, the Debbie Gibson one intrigues me as I am curious to see what she has to offer after all this time. Also, curious about the George Lynch although never been a huge fan. The big release this week though is Lorde…at least with my kids….

  1. Wow. Lorde’s really letting it hang out on that album cover. That song starts sounding like another “Royals” and ends as a total rip off of George Michael’s “Freedom! ’90” beat and all. I looked it up and apparently I wasn’t the only one to notice. George’s estate said that George would have been flattered, so I guess all is good.

    1. Ha! I think I’ve heard it, but now I will listen differently. Yeah, that picture is quite interesting to say the least. Apparently, she was at the beach with some friends and as she jumped over one of her friends they snapped a picture and she loved it so they used it. (or recreated it for the album, I am not sure).

      1. Why was she bottomless with her friends? I guess women are way more comfortable being all gay with each other than dudes are. I’d never hang out on the beach with the boys with my dick flopping back and forth.

Looks like there’s even some vag. No one ever shows vag. It’s always tits.

  2. Tell me about it…And lately I’ve been rediscovering stuff that I already have…There’s just tons and tons of music. Must be a good thing.

Digging Blink-182 California the deluxe disc at the moment…

      1. I have all his albums so far, and I think I covered them at some point on KMA. Anyway, he was my daughter’s favourite for a while when she was really young, even though his lyrics aren’t for kids lol. Check out the self-titled debut and the follow-up, Shangri-la for the stuff we love most.

                  1. Agreed! Our kids have always been that bit more sensitive to frightening or violent stuff, but at 12 and 10 they’re starting to relax a bit. Anyway, that’s probably why I said what I did, because my kids are that bit more hesitant (and not from anything we’ve done to them, they just are that way). So you might hear his songs, particularly on the debut, and wonder what I was on about lol.
