Friday New Releases – November 19, 2021

You Wanted the Best, You Got the Best! The Hottest New Release Day of the Year!! TODAY!!! Man, there are so many great releases today and I can’t wait. I have 3 I will be listening to and one is a Massive Box Set. This also seems to be a day for older established artists releasing new albums or anniversary albums and maybe for you younger listeners you might find some of these older artists totally awesome. Now, go check them out and let me know what you want to hear this week. Also, let us know what we may have missed. My choices are up first and in BOLD! Thanks for stopping by and have a wonderful weekend.

  • 91C7w0t0NLL._SX522_  Kiss – Destroyer (45th Anniversary Super Deluxe Edition) – (Universal Music / UMG): KISS!!! Man, I can’t wait for this to arrive. I hope it makes it today. Kiss is releasing a 45th Anniversary of one of their biggest albums. It is remastered and there are a ton of demos and unreleased tracks and it is about time the band did a Box Set like this. Now, they need to go back and do them all with this special treatment. They’d get my money!!
  • 719ZBpfe0eL._SX522_  The Darkness – Motorheart – (Cooking Vinyl): The Darkness is upon us and that makes for a much brighter day for me! I love these guys. Their love of that old glam rock sound makes for a wonderful listen. They bring that style to today’s market and for that we are lucky. I loved their last album ‘Easter is Cancelled’ and if this is half as good as that one, this will be awesome then!!
  • 71-llhQmneL._AC_UY436_FMwebp_QL65_  Adele – 30 – (Columbia Records): Here is the one album most people will be itching for. Adele is back with a new album. And that voice still sounds magical and powerful. She will be #1 album this week no doubt. In fact, her new album is causing pain to all other albums that are trying to print vinyl records. Her album is causing a backlog of printing as the vinyl manufactures are printing around 500,000 copies of her new one. That is a crazy number in today’s market. Good for her!!
  • 81cmCC7DoUL._AC_UY436_QL65_  James Blunt – The Stars Beneath My Feet (2004-2021) – (Atlantic): James Blunt is one of my favorite pop artist. His self-deprecating humor is unmatched by most and if you don’t follow him on Twitter you are missing out. Musically, he creates amazing pop songs and his unique voice is worth hearing and immersing yourself in to his songs. And what a great place to start, a greatest hits album!!

And then all the rest…what year are we in with these bands??

  1. I think you know what I want! I wanted the best and hopefully will get the best by tomorrow.

I hope Motorheart is good. I haven’t ordered it because I haven’t looked into the bonus track situation yet, but their Japanese CDs usually have extra stuff.

    1. Yeah, we are in the same boat. Although, Matt Nathanson had a surprise release yesterday. He released a covers album of U2 songs called Achtung Matty!! Similar to his Lep release but a full album this time.

  2. Bring on the Darkness and Big Wreck! I love Big Wreck. I wish Darkness would have used a different name on their album. All I can think about now is Tokyo Motor Fist!

I’ll think about Destroyer. I had a copy ages ago. I don’t know what happened to it. I’m not sure I need all of the demos, though some B-Sides would be nice. I’m assuming it will be expensive.

Regarding the vinyl, a prominent radio personality in Toronto wrote about a global vinyl shortage. He expects Adele to make matters worse. With a voice like that, I don’t think anyone will be mad at her. She has one awesome set of pipes.

I’ll consider getting Genesis and the Boss for my father. I read last night that Phil Collins isn’t doing so well health wise. I’m thankful I got to take Dad to see Collins and company while they were all healthy.

I noticed that there is another Adrian Smith / Richie Kotzen album coming next Friday. Sweet.

I must be slacking. I’ve bought only ten discs this month.

  3. I picked up Big Wreck and Destroyer (2CD version). I have to say that Kiss did not skimp on packaging. The pictures, liner notes, they’re all well done. With past reissues, I’ve seen a small digipak with the discs, and that’s it.

  4. Yeah there is a lot on my radar this week. I have the Oasis live on the way, I’m looking to check out several of the metal releases and some of the indie stuff. I want the Converge and Chelsea Wolfe on vinyl but that doesn’t release until June because of record plant delays.

I do want to pick up some version of Destroyer but I can’t bring myself to shell out for the super version. I’ll probably score the 2 CD version at some point.
