You, my reader, are going to pick an album for me to review each month. It is really simple…first, I will give you 5 albums to choose from and second, you will tell me which one of those you would like to see reviewed on the site. See…simple! Now, if you want to cast more than one vote, comment on the Twitter and Facebook post and you could get up to 3 votes on your favorite pick.
There are a few simple rules I have put in to place in my selections. They are…
- One has to be a new release (within the last month)
- One has to be one I have never heard before (new releases don’t count for this one)
- One has to be from a genre I don’t normally listen to at all or very often
- And the last two are choices from my collection that I haven’t reviewed before
What are the 5 albums you ask? Funny you should ask because I have those right here…
New Release – Ozzy Osbourne – ‘Patient Number 9’
Never Heard Before – Joy Division – ‘Unknown Pleasures’
Not My Normal Genre – Loretta Lynn – ‘Van Lear Rose’
From My Collection – The Darkness – ‘Permission to Land’
From My Collection – Peter Gabriel – ‘So’
Let me know which one you would like to see and sometime in October, I will post a review of the album that gets the most votes. You have one week to decide and from there I will start listening to the album and do a review.
Thanks for participating!!
Loretta Lynn….Jack White produced it and it sounds great. I’m not a big country fan but I like this.

Great choice..Jack was the reason I added it to the list as I thought it would be interesting.

I’ll second this. Just saw Darkness and didn’t even bother to read the rest…
Hey LeBrain are those Darkness deluxe editions worth getting?

There seems to be extra tracks on every album from Hot Cakes on. 4 tracks on each album?
I only have the plain versions.

Oh, I only have the first two so not as familiar with later ones.

Good choice! And on the Darkness, do they Deluxe Editions? Or is it just Japanese editions with an extra track or 2?

No,I will not fuck Ozzy. That is a scary thought! But I will count the Darkness!!

I gotta be the outlier and say Gabriel. I love that album. Loretta would be good too, we have that one here and it’s great.

Ozzy’s probably gonna win but I’ll go with the Darkness since I don’t know anything about them. If at all possible, suggest avoiding Joy Division as they come from that same moody area as the Smiths.

Thanks. Your vote is counted. I think it will be close between Ozzy and The Darkness. And yes, I agree on the Joy Division. I actually did these two posts back-to-back thinking I wanted to explore that genre as so many people like it, but I’ve learned, I’m not going to like it!! 🙂

Joy Division has the upper hand in that their singer wasn’t Morissey.

JD is counted. I’m not sure I’m ready for that one as I didn’t find The Smiths that fantastic.

Ozzy only because I’m curious about what it sounds like, but I’m to lazy to listen to the album myself lol.

And which version are u reviewing? Clean or standard? Did u know that clean one has different lyrics, it’s not just edited out version. Motherfarmer.
LikeLiked by 1 person
I am sure it will be the explicit and didn’t know about the new words on the clean. I accidentally picked up a clean version of a Kid Rock album and man it sucks. Okay, it probably sucks with the explicit lyrics, but at least it isn’t screwed up with noises and half words.

I’ll go with Loretta Lynn, as I want to see you write about something other than hard rock.

Shit, that’s tough. That Peter Gabriel album is awesome, but I’ll vote for Joy Division.

You are a mean, mean man!! I hear it’s in the same realm as The Smiths and that frightens me.

They’re more immediate and punky than The Smiths.

That Peter Gabriel album is a classic, I was just spinning it yesterday evening but I’m gonna go for humour though and swing for The Darkness, curious how the ridiculousness of it ages.
(I also think Joy Division has to be one of the most miserable listens out there and nobody needs that).

The Smiths were that for me and if Joy Division is that way too, then I hope it doesn’t get anymore votes!
