At a local record show, I found this beauty from AC/DC. It is the U.S. single for their first single off “For Those About To Rock We Salute You” called “Let’s Get It Up”. Hmm…I wonder what this is about?? More on that later. The song never charted in the U.S., but in their home country of Australia, it went to #73 and the Swedes liked it the most as it went to #18 in their country.
The song is typical AC/DC filth, but I mean that in a loving way. “Let’s Get It Up” is about sailing the seven seas and remaining out at sea for a long time, but it also is about, well, getting an erection and keeping it up for a long time. As Brian Johnson said in Kerrang, it is “Filth, Pure Filth, We’re a Filthy band”…yep, that sums it up nicely.

There are two versions of the U.S. Single. One with a gray cannon, like the one I have, and one that has a black cannon. I’ll have to keep that in mind when I’m hunting next time. The B-Side is the same with “Snowballed” also from the album ‘For Those About To Rock We Salute You’.
A-SIDE:

The song has that classic AC/DC riff that is crunchy and down & dirty. Brian Johnson’s vocals have that raspiness that is his signature sound. The solo really shows Angus Young’s blues background as it is seeps through each note. The rhythm section of Malcolm Young, Cliff Williams and Phil Rudd keep that AC/DC machine chugging along. I will admit not my favorite song on the album, but I do like the B-Side.
B-SIDE:

The B-Side is “Snowballed” and it cranks things up a notch. This one is a lot of fun and is a heavy, high energy, up tempo rocker and it sounds like AC/DC as every song of theirs does. What more can you say. The song can be about a lot of things such as cocaine or getting in to trouble and things just snowball from there and keep getting worse. It is a rip-roaring good time!!
And there you have it. I hope you enjoyed the look at the AC/DC Single for “Let’s Get It Up”. Thanks for stopping by and we will see you real soon.
AC/DC can’t do something bad, make a review of them is just useless. It’s a pretty piece, I’d like to have this kind of rareties but first I gotta get a turntable

Nice score. I like how they keep the album cover picture and just changed the background color

When I was in the service back in 1982, I must of heard “Let’s Get It Up” coming out of every juke box in every bar or cafe I went into in Toulon, France. The song might have done well in the French charts as well. Like you, I prefer “Snowballed” to it.

Cool. I don’t remember that song back in 82. It was overshadowed by a lot of others by them.

“Snowballed” makes me head bang. One of their most metal moments.

That’s cool, I never knew that song was a single. I guess radio never played it since it wasn’t from Back In Black.

That is probably why it never got played.

“Snowballed” and “C.O.D.” (both from the ‘For Those About to Rock’ album) were the first two AC/DC songs I really got into!

Thanks John…I bet I haven’t heard this since the 80s. This is one I don’t hear played as much.
