10 Years of 2 Loud 2 Old Music!! But is it the End?

Today marks the 10th Anniversary of 2 Loud 2 Old Music and I can’t believe it has been that long already. What a ride it has been. I’ve met some incredible people, interviewed some incredible people and it has simply been incredible, people! I have written around 2,800 posts, had 2.7 million views, 1.3 million visitors and spent countless hours and dollars buying and listening to music…then writing about it.

What started out as a comment from my wife 10 years ago…she said “You need a hobby!! Start a blog”. And bam!! 2 Loud 2 Old Music was born. My passion for music found a home and my collecting obsession began. Not only did I write about music, I found people that did the same in this WordPress community. For some strange reason, the people I found were almost entirely Canadian at first. I guess because they are the nicest people, but I found other fellow Americans, then some Brits, Aussies and people from all over the world. It has been really cool.

The website got a logo, some merch, I even started a YouTube channel. It has all become a lot. With all that being said…has the time come to end 2 Loud 2 Old Music?

Maybe for a little while. I am going to go on a brief hiatus for about 3 months as we are getting the house ready to sell and I have to pack away The Collection. With showing the house, packing and moving to a different state, things are going to be hectic and I need to put this aside for awhile. If that wasn’t enough, my oldest daughter is getting married this year too. And there is a very special project I have been working on that I want to finish…almost there and I need to focus on that too. Can’t do it all. It is crazy around these parts!

I’ll still pop on and read some posts from my favorite sites. I’m even going to try and continue the Friday New Release posts as I know my regular readers love it and so do I…not putting it together, but knowing what is coming out so I can add to the The Collection.

I hope to be back soon, but you never know what the future holds. All I can say is thank you for stopping by and reading all I had to say. Your support and comments have meant a lot and kept me going. Signing off for now, wish you all the best during my absence, but I don’t think the party is over yet, just put on hold.

See you soon!

  1. Hey John Snow, a happy Friday morning to ya. Can’t imagine what packing “the collection” is gonna be like, u have your own 18 wheeler semi for it? If u don’t mind me asking which state do you live in now (I think maybe in one of the Carolinas?) & where ya moving to? And best of luck to the future wedding of your daughter…Lots of new stuff coming your way, all the best w/ all of it. It’s been fun reading & talking to other music lovers on this platform, so whether u come back to this or the ride is over, it’s been a blast, thx for your time & dedication.

And 1 quick note, in your new music post you started w/ Brother Cane. I just saw them recently live in NJ and they were fantastic, the new songs sounded xclnt. Very cool to see them live again after all these years and they haven’t lost a thing. Good for the heart & soul. And a quick shout-out to the Canadian Rn’R’ers, I’ve been diggin’ the new Arkells album, hopefully seeing them in NYC in a few weeks…’Aight, take care all, have a great weekend. Cheers…

    1. Happy Friday Bubba! Thanks a lot. The packing of the collection was a sad moment for me. I hated every second of it. But can’t wait to get to a new place. I am currently in North Carolina and we will be moving back to Georgia.

Listening to that Brother Cane album now and loving it! Glad you got to see them.

  2. Given how much music you buy each month, I understand the need to take a break. After all, you need time to listen to all of this new music!

Thanks for the lists, the reviews, some of which became new music suggestions for me, interviews, etc, etc, etc.

  3. Hey John, Sorry to see you go and hopefully you’ll be back. I’ve been where you are now, moving house, children’s weddings, so my thoughts are with you. I can now see why you couldn’t accept the Sunshine Blogger Award nomination and perfectly understand. Thank you for ten years of great posts!

      1. Thanks. I doubt I’ll quite entirely. I just don’t have time right now to listen and research and write. Hell, most of my collection is boxed up now so I’ve got nothing!! LOL!! Once I get settled we will see how I feel.

  5. Congratulations John! As much as I give you a hard time about the “collection”, I cannot imagine our home without it. It’s a part of you and therefore a part of us. Plus, whatever would you spend your money on? Proud of you!

  6. Happy 10th blog anniversary, John! Wow, time has sure flown by. I started my blog in August 2015, and most of my early posts were read by literally no one. You were one of my very first followers, and I’ve appreciated your loyal support through the years. And congratulations on your tremendous blog traffic! Yours has more than double the visitors and views as mine, likely due to the fact your blog is terrific, but also because you’ve mostly written about mainstream acts, whereas a lot of my posts were about little-known independent acts that few cared to read about. (As you’ve probably noticed, I quit writing reviews last summer after numerous bouts of burnout and doubt I’ll ever go back to doing them.

At any rate, I wish you the best of luck with your move, daughter’s wedding and project, and hope you’ll return to blogging.

  7. Hi John, Just wondering if you would contemplate handing the blog off to someone that can help keep it alive so you can take the time off you need without losing momentum. If so… Please shoot me an email. Thanks, Sonny Pooni
