Most of the rock albums I have are sung by men. However, there are a lot of great rock songs and albums with female lead singers. I was sitting here listening to Janis Joplin and started thinking about who were some of my favorite female lead singers that could rock it out. Below is my list of my favorite Women that Rock.
Here we go.
“Piece of My Heart” – Janis Joplin
“Barracuda” – Ann & Nancy Wilson of Heart
“Call Me” – Blondie
“Bad Reputation” – Joan Jett & the Blackhearts
“Promises in the Dark” – Pat Benatar
“Zombie” – Delores O’Riordan of the Cranberries
“Why Do You Love Me” – Shirley Manson of Garbage
“Bring Me to Life” – Amy Lee of Evanescence
“Love Bites (So Do I)” – Lzzy Hale of Halestorm
“Going to Hell” – Taylor Momsen of The Pretty Reckless
“Heaven in this Hell” – Orianthi
“America’s Sweetheart” – Elle King
I know I left some great singers off, but it was hard to choose which ones as I wanted to cover several decades. Please add to the list and let’s make it as long as we can.
Good list! Though generally more pop/R&B, Tina Turner could also rock out.

Tina Turner most definitely can rock. I missed Chrissie Hynde as well. Thanks!

How could we have both miss Chrissie Hynde?!? She was one of the best!

The fact that Stevie Nicks doesn’t appear breaks my heart – not hard rock-y enough?

That was a complete miss on my part. I love Stevie!
