Music Challenge – King Gizzard & the Lizard Wizard

Alright, it is time for another music challenge.  Go listen to an album that you have never heard before and pick it strictly off the Band Name, the Album Name, or the Album Cover. Once you have listened to one, come back and tell me what you picked and what you thought.

My pick was based strictly off the Band Name.  And that band name is King Gizzard And The Lizard Wizard.  How could I not pick this one.  That is a great band name.

The band was formed in 2010 and this is their 8th studio album.  That is right, I said 8 albums and in 6 years. No band nowadays does that.  They are a 7 piece band out of Australia and they could be classified as psychedelic rock / alternative / experimental / I don’t know what.

The album is called Nonagon Infinity and was released last week on  Flightless Records.  It contains only 9 songs but you get a lot out of those songs.

Your ears get no break on this album as the songs transition straight into the next with no stopping. Musically, the band is awesome and they kill it the whole time.  Vocally, the effects they are using caused me not to understand what the singer was saying at times and distracted from the overall experience.  The bands playing kept me intrigued and interested.

I found myself enjoying this album despite my drawbacks on the vocal effects. I believe there is some definite talent with these guys and I will give it more listens and try out some of their other albums. Take a listen.

    1. Thanks. Can’t wait to hear what you picked. Sometimes it doesn’t work out well and you wonder what were the people thinking when they made it. Sometimes, you find a new artist to enjoy and become a fan.
