Happy Friday!! More new releases today, but sadly, I am not interested in anyone of these. Maybe ZZTop. Justin Moore’s album title sums it up for me – ‘Kinda Don’t Care’. What that means for me is it is a good week to catch up on all the releases that have come out over the last few weeks. Hopefully there is something in here for you though.
Young the Giant – Home of the Strange – (Fueled by Ramen)
ZZ Top – Live: Greatest Hits From Around the World – (Surestone Records)
Blind Pilot – And Then Like Lions – (ATO Records)
Justin Moore – Kinda Don’t Care – (Valory)
Cody Jinks – I’m Not the Devil – (Cody Jinks Music)
Celtic Thunder – Legacy, Vol. 2 – (SMG)
Atmosphere – Fishing Blues – (Rhymesayers)
Dylan Scott – Dylan Scott – (Curb)

Looks like I’ll be picking up a new ZZ Top live album though I’m not rushed.

I haven’t decided yet. Like you, not in any big hurry. I need to catch up on what has come out lately than get another ZZ Top live album.

Yeah true. Sometimes I find it “easier” to buy a live album, than a new album, because I know the songs. Having said that I believe there’s a new Kiss live album I’ll be buying soon.

Kiss is different. I will buy their new live album. I want them to do another Kissology DVD set.

I know eh? They could easily do a bunch more Kissology (another trilogy perhaps?) and like you I will buy Kiss automatically. I think there is a blu-ray CD combo pack that works for me.

I should do a review on them just to give me an excuse to watch them again.

See here is my issue with reviewing them (which I haven’t done yet). How many hours long are they? Very — so do I want to go full-on for the review? If I do it concisely, am I am being fair to the reader? Argh! I’ve never tried reviewing a DVD set that big before.

You have a very good point. I will just watch them for fun. It would take me week’s to get through all of them anyway.

I think so, but I will say that I especially like Vol 3, the 90’s period, because I think that’s underrated. I have the full “Unplugged” show on a bootleg VHS I bought back in ’96, with all the jamming between songs etc. So it’s nice to get some of that on the extended DVD version in the box set.

Wow!! VHS…how awesome. I wouldn’t mind getting that but I don’t have a VCR anymore.

I bought it at a record show from a bootlegger, a local guy. It hadn’t even come out on CD yet. The video was 3 hours long total. Some songs they had to do multiple takes of. Paul breaks a string…Gene forgets the words…Ace swears…it’s hilarious and awesome and I’m so glad I have it. It’s funny when Gene forgets how his own solo track goes.

That does sound awesome.

It is — truly one of my treasures. I am sure it can still be found except on DVD today.

I do like Young the Giant’s music, and really like their latest single “Something to Believe In.” I’ve seen a few good reviews of their new album.

I need to listen to it. Still haven’t had a chance.
