Happy Friday! I hope there are some new releases here that you might like. There is not a whole lot coming out, but a few will be on my list to listen to during the week. I will highlight those in Blue. You will see something from the Jerry Garcia Band for you Deadheads and if you liked Soft Cell from the 80’s there is a greatest hits package from Marc Almond. There is an album by the great country artist Marty Stuart that actually might be worth a listen, but isn’t first up on my list. I will eventually get to that one.
Chickenfoot – Best + Live – (Chickenfoot LLC & Entertainment One): I am not sure how you have a Best of album after only 2 studio albums, but Chickenfoot seems to think they need one. I am thinking it is a contractual obligation they have to fulfil. I will be glad for the Live songs and the one new single “Divine Termination”. No matter what, when you have Sammy, Joe, Chad & Michael together, you are in for a good time.
Bush – Black and White Rainbows – (Zuma Rock Records): Bush is still going strong. This is the first album for Gavin Rossdale since his well publicized divorce from Gwen Stefani. It will be interesting to see how that impacted his song writing for this album. Can’t wait to hear this one regardless of that fact.
Aaron Shust – Love Made A Way (Live) – (Centricity Music): For something in the complete opposite direction from Bush, we have Christian artist, Aaron Shust, ready to deliver a new album that was recorded live. It is a new album of new material that was recorded live during his worship services. Should be great.
Darkest Hour – Godless Prophets & the Migrant Flora – (Southern Lord Recordings)
Soundgarden – Ultramega OK (Expanded Reissue) – (Sub Pop Records)
Marc Almond – Hits and Pieces – The Best of Marc Almond & Soft Cell – (UMC)
Jerry Garcia Band – GarcaLive, Vol. Eight November 23rd, 1991 Bradley Center – (Jerry Garcia Family, LLC)
The Shins – Heartworms – (Columbia Records)
Marty Stuart and His Fabulous Superlatives – Way Out West – (Superlatone Records)
Josh Turner – Deep South – (MCA Nashville)
Too $hort – The Pimp Tape – Dangerous Music

Good to see the Jerry Garcia Family is still earning money from a dead guy, seriously?

I know. But no different than any other Dead legend.

Few albums there I’m fairly interested in – Chickenfoot, Bush and The Shins. Dare say I’ll give each at least a cursory listen and see if anything jumps out at me.

I haven’t been impressed with the Bush one so far. I hope it gets better

I think that’s been the case with the last few albums, unfortunately (it’s never went beyond cursory listening).

I’m curious about the Bush too, but not as excited as I would have been half a lifetime ago. Coolest one for me here is the expanded Soundgarden Ultramega OK.

It is not real heavy. I was hoping for a little more rock.

I was surprised to hear Bush’s new song on Spotify the other day, as I wasn’t aware they’d released a new album & single. “Mad Love” isn’t bad… I like the Chickenfoot live track you included, though not sure what was up with Chad destroying his drums.

I am really not head over heals for any of the releases, but I will try and get to them soon. I did listen to the Bush and so far, jury is out. Not real thrilled yet.
