Friday New Releases – March 17th

Happy Friday.  What are you in the mood to hear today?  You have a lot of variety and can listen to blues, rock, christian worship, classical pop, pop, alternative, metal and movie scores.  There are even a couple of 80’s bands back (Depeche Mode and Greg Kihn).  Whatever you like, let me know what floats your boat.  Mine are highlighted in Blue.

  • 170x170bb-22  Gary Clark Jr. – Live North America 2016 – (Warner Bros. Records):  This is probably the best one on the list.  Gary Clark Jr. live doesn’t get much better. If you haven’t heard him before, you are missing out.  He is a helluva a guitar player. He is blues, rock, soul, r&b and blends it all nicely together.  Listen to the video below and you will be like..DAMN!!! This man is awesome!!.

  • 170x170bb-3  Elevation Worship – There is a Cloud – (Elevation Church):  This church is just down the road from us and they do a great live show every year at the Spectrum Center that always sells out.  We have seen them several times at church (when we go) and they are amazing.  If you like Worship music, this is one of the better, more talented groups out there.

  • 170x170bb-5  KXM – Scatterbrain – (Rat Pak Records):  Let me get this straight, if I get this album I get Ray Luzier (Korn), dUg Pinnick (King’s X) and George Lynch (Lynch Mob & Dokken)?  Why would I not want this album.  This should be an out and out rocker.  Can’t wait to push play.

  • 170x170bb-7  2 Cellos – Score – (Sony Music):  2 Cellos are classical pop.  They are able to turn rock and pop songs into classical sensations.  This time they tackle movie scores and as usually can do no wrong.  I like to classify them as Elevator Music on Steriods.  They make it cool!!

  • 170x170bb-55  Greg Kihn Band – Rekihndled – (Riot Records)
  • 170x170bb  Depeche Mode – Spirit – (Venusnote, ltd)
  • 170x170bb-54  John Williams – John Williams & Steven Spielberg The Ultimate Collection – (Sony Music)
  • 170x170bb (77)  Rick Ross – Rather You Than Me – (Epic Records)
  • 170x170bb (84)  Paul Shaffer & the World’s Most Dangerous Band – Paul Shaffer & the World’s Most Dangerous Band – (Rhino Records)
  • 61kt4516m7l-_ac_us160_  Tedeschi Trucks Band – Live From the Fox Oakland – (Fantasy)
  • 170x170bb (4).jpg  Zara Larson – So Good – (Record Company 10)
  • 170x170bb-88  Spoon – Hot Thoughts – (Matador)
  • 51jzxbxz00l-_ac_us160_  Obituary – Obituary – (Relapse)

  1. A few interesting albums here. Spoon is the one that interests me most and I’ll likely pick that up soon. Also likely to check out the Gary Clark Jr. and Tedeschi Trucks Band albums.

Pick of the week’s releases for me is Causa Sui’s Live In Copenhagen, which is quite likey to be one of my favourites of the year!

      1. I think they call it mondo stoner saxophone summer fuzz. The live set is really pretty incredible, but their last album, Return To Sky, is a good place to start.
