May is kicking in to high gear. The temperature is heating up and so is the music. There are only a few I am interested in this week, but there is plenty to get you moving this weekend. RSO (Richie Sambora & Orianthi) – Radio Free America – (BMG): The first full length album from Richie Sambora & Orianthi. Well, it isn’t really completely new as they have had 2 EPs and a couble singles which are all included. The only new songs are only “Blues Won’t Leave Me Alone” and “Hellbound Train”. I have mixed feelings on the EPs, but let’s see how they play as a full length album.
Arctic Monkeys – Tranquility Base Hotel & Casino – (Domino Recording): Arctic Monkeys are back with their first album in five years. It has been a while, but I am eager to hear if any of the magic is back. They haven’t disappointed me yet…or at least very little. Here is a snippet…
Charlie Puth – Voicenotes – (Artist Partner Group): I can’t believe I am going to say this, but I am actually going to listen to this one. I go Pop occasionally and I have liked what I have heard so far. Maybe I will dig it…maybe not!! We will see…

Oooph… I hadn’t heard anything from RSO and that’s not what I was expecting. It’s the aural equivalent of brown toilet water. Having seen footage from the R&R HOF it’s clear that both Richie and the band need each other.
Jizzy Pearl… that really sounds like a euphemism

Yeah, the RSO is not what I was expecting or hoping for. I don’t think they sound good together. The songs where it features one or the other are better, but the combined singing doesn’t work for me overall. It is not the worst thing I have heard but it does’t give me chills either.
And I love the name Jizzy Pearl…and yes it does.

I just got my coloured vinyl Sleep album today.
I had the Ry Cooder in my hands but decided to put it back. Maybe next time.
I may get Jizzy Pearl and possibly Arctic Monkeys. They were not in the store.
I’m going to see Bon Jovi tomorrow night. I’d rather see Sambora back where he belongs.

I have seen Jovi with Phil X and he is good. Just would like to see JBJ and Sambora once.

Is that Praying Mantis actually new music? If so, I didn’t realize the band still existed. I will definitely look into this; thanks for the steer. Time Tells No Lies from back in ’81 is one of my favorite NWOBHM albums.
