Are things heating up for you? Well, the new releases are heating up! Okay, maybe they are lukewarm; however, there are a few worth checking out and mine will be in Blue. Let me what you are looking forward to hearing. There are live albums, Blues, Pop, Rock and electronica…something for everyone. If you like 90’s artists, there a several back this week that might be worth at least a stream or two. Have a great weekend!!
The Darkness – Live at Hammersmith – (Canary Dwarf Ltd): The 80’s Hair Metal throwback band are back with a live album and wasn’t that what we were waiting to hear! This might be first up on the stereo today for me. These guys would have been huge in the 80’s!! Turn it up because I Believe In a Thing Called “Live”…see what I did there!! Here is the original video as I didn’t see a live one for this release.
Mike Shinoda – Post Traumatic – (Warner Bros): The co-lead singer of Linkin Park is set for his first solo release and his first music since Chester Bennington’s passing. As a fan of Linkin Park this is a no-brainer. I am really interested to see where he takes it and how he responds to Chester’s death. It should be a great release.
Christina Aguilera – Liberation – (RCA Records): I was never a massive Christina fan, but there is no denying the woman has some vocal chops. I am interested to see what a more mature Christina has to bring to the table. I will give it a listen, she has earned that.
Now here are a couple 90’s artists making a comeback…yes, I will stream these!
Gin Blossoms – Mixed Reality – (Cleopatra Records)
The Mighty Mighty Bosstones – While We’re At It – (Big Rig Records)
And the rest…
The Gaslight Anthem – The ’59 Sounds Sessions – (SideOne Dummy Records)
Lizzy Borden – My Midnight Things – (Metal Blade Records)
Buddy Guy – The Blues Is Alive and Well – (RCA)
Mayday Parade – Sunnyland – (Rise Records)
Nick Lowe – Tokyo Bay / Crying Inside E.P. – (Yep Roc Records)
Chromeo – Head Over Heals – (Room Service)
The English Beat – Here We Go Love – (Here We Go Love LLC)
You missed Blasphamagoarachrist. How remiss of you.
The Darkness live might have tickled my fancy a while back but I haven’t kept up with them since Hot Cakes… kinda went off them.

Kinda with Scott on the Darkness as well. That falsetto stuff gets tiring after a while but that debut was pretty decent.

Understandable and it has been awhile since I have listened to them. But the live isn’t bad.

I am so sorry HMO, but it was on purpose as I was afraid I might not spell it correctly!!
As far as the Darkness, I haven’t listened to them in awhile so the Live able was interesting. I listened to it on the way to work this morning and it was pretty good.

Looks like it’s pretty heavy on Permission To Land stuff which is good. Might give it a spin online… maybe it’ll be a good intro to the newer stuff.

For me, it is streamable. Don’t know when or if I will get physical copy.

That photo of Christian is honestly the most beautiful I have ever seen.
The Darkness piss me off because they wouldn’t answer my numerous questions about bonus tracks! Looks like I have to do my own research.

That is a great picture. She looks fantastic.
I can’t believe they won’t respond. They should change their name to the Dickness.

Well now that it is out, it appears there is no Japanese release. CD Japan just have the US edition. Therefore I will go ahead and buy it asap!

That stinks. But at 19 songs it is chopped full of stuff.

I don’t mind when there are no bonus tracks. Means I can buy it for (GASP) regular price!

I have seen the Darkness live and they are awesome. I think I will get that and Buddy Guy.

Two good choices!! I am enjoying the Darkness one so far. I haven’t got to the Guy one yet.

I haven’t been all that interested in much for a few weeks now. Seems it’s slim pickings for May and June (so far).

Personally, I think it has been slim all year. There have only been a few releases I have gotten excited about. Hopefully it turns around by Fall.

That is Peter Buck’s project correct?

That’s the one, aye. I’m more interested in it due to it being Joseph Arthur (if you’re not familiar with him, he has a catalogue worth delving into). I also learned that M. Ward has a new one out, too (though I think that was released last week… but still!)

Not really familiar so will need to look into him.
