A number of new releases this week across a vast array of genres. There is probably something for everyone this week. We have Alternative, Christian, Indie, R&B, Country, Metal, EDM, AOR, Bubble Gum Pop and who knows what else. There a few that interest me, but don’t necessarily excite me where I am running out and buying anything. A few I want to listen to and they are highlighted in Blue as always. Let me know what interests you or if I missed anything. Enjoy listening and have a great weekend!!
Band of Skulls – Love is All You Love – (SO Recordings): This English band is back with their 5th album and they are quite interesting and worth a listen. They are part Blues Rock, Indie Rock, Stoner Rock and just plain Hard Rock. They are a little of everything and that is what is great about them. Give them a try if you haven’t already.
Danny Gokey – Haven’t Seen It Yet – (Sparrow Records): Christian artist and former American Idol hopeful releases his fourth album and I was pleasantly surprised by how good his last album was that I will be checking this one out as well. It is towards the pop realm in Christian music, but his voice is fantastic and the lyrics are great. If you need something uplifting, this should fit the bill.
Shovels & Rope – By Blood – (Dualtone Music Group): This American Folk duo out of Charleston, South Carolina did some work with one of my favorite bands, Needtobreathe, a few years back and as a result, I will check out to see what they have to offer this time around. Not sure what to expect…well, folk music, I guess…but I will listen anyway and give it a chance. If Needtobreathe likes them that is good enough for me to at least give it a try. The song below is pretty cool.
Norah Jones – Begin Again – (Blue Note Records/Capitol): It is Norah Jones, is there anything else I need to say? I didn’t think so. Obvious this will get a spin.
John Paul White – The Hurting Kind – (Single Lock Records): One half of The Civil Wars who I thought were awesome, so will definitely be listening to John Paul White. It is funny as I think Joy Williams (the other half) has an album coming out soon as well. If you haven’t heard The Civil Wars, you are missing out…go listen them now and grab this too!! The song below is sensational.
Aaron Lewis – State I’m In – (Big Machine)
Andy Black – The Ghost of Ohio – (Republic Records)
Melissa Etheridge – The Medicine Show – (MLE Music)
Sara Evans – The Barker Family Band E.P. – (Born to Fly Records)
Emma Bunton – My Happy Place – (BMG)
LSD – Labrinth, Sia & Diplo Present…LSD – (2019 Records LLC)
Bruce Hornsby – Absolute Zero – (Zappo Production)
Glen Hansard – This Wild Willing – (Plateau Records)
The Chemical Brothers – No Geography – (Virgin EMI)
I’m likely gonna check out Glen Hansard and the Norah Jones release to see what’s happening there (she can be really good when she doesn’t play it safe).

The new MISSIO album “The Darker the Weather // The Better The Man” dropped today, and it’s already the best new album I’ve heard this year.

Just the John Paul White and Glen Hansard albums for me. Pressed play on The Long Way Home, and loved it!

That was my intro to her. She is hit or miss and I tend to need to be in the mood for her, but there is no denying she is talented.
