1,000 Posts and Counting

I can’t believe I have done 1,000 Posts.  I never thought I would be able to keep up with the site let alone get this far.  It all started on April 17th, 2016 with my very first post which was “Road Rage” Playlist!

And now, 1,304 days later here I am at my 1,000th post.  Crazy!!

Since we are looking back, let’s take a look at the Top 5 Posts viewed and the Bottom 5 posts viewed.  It is always curious to me which ones do well and which ones don’t. Sometimes I feel like I wrote a great post that was so witty and insightful, yet hardly any one sees it and then others I think I sucked at it and should have never posted and ends up getting a butt load of hits.  There is no rhyme or reason for any of it I am sure.

Here are the Top 5 Posts viewed:

5. Top Rock Songs of 2018 – 4,103 views:  This one only did well thanks to the one and only Michael Sweet of Stryper.  I picked the Stryper song “Take it to the Cross” as the #7 song of the year and he tweeted about it and mentioned it on Facebook (and so did Stryper).  As a result, this post took off!!  Thanks Michael!!

4. Maroon 5 – The Albums Ranked Worst to First – 4,393 views:  And this one did well thanks to Maroon 5 playing the Super Bowl half time show.  That week before and after were huge on views.

3. The Original vs. The Cover – “The Sound of Silence” – 5,110 views:  This is one I never realized would have done so well.  Thanks to a first page result when you Google this song, I get a bunch of reviews everyday.  I hope that continues.

2. New Releases – 5,456 views: This is my favorite page.  It lists out all the new releases coming out that I care about and/or know about and is updated every week.  This is another one that now gets a bunch of hits every single day and I am glad people are taking note of it. I hope it helps people see something they want to go out and buy or at least stream.

And the #1 Post is….drum roll….

Apple Music vs Amazon Music Unlimited – 9,293 views:  I wrote this a couple years ago (if not longer) and although the hits aren’t huge anymore, there was an 18 month stretch that this post was killing it.  At the time, I don’t think there were a ton of reviews comparing the two sites so it was a first page search on Google (not any more)…oh well, it was fun while it lasted.

And now for the Bottom 5:

Sorry…it is too depressing to see the Bottom 5 posts that got so few views.  I am not going to show it because it causes me anxiety and I get all depressed and then angry at you the reader for not coming and visiting those posts. You people are so cruel!!!  Why do you torment me so?????

Ok, I’m Kidding, It doesn’t really bother me in the least.  Reality is I can’t get WordPress to show the bottom 5.  It only shows about 1/2 my posts and then stops.  Oh well.

Cool Moments:

There have been some really cool moments.  Like with Michael Sweet mentioning the site as I mentioned above.  Pretty cool!  I thought it was awesome when John 5 linked to my review of his album directly on his website and even Whitesnake did it for the review of the Unzipped Box Set review.

One really cool moment was when I did a post poking fun at the song “Fish Heads” by Barnes & Barnes as I said it was the worst song ever.  Well, one of the Barnes, Artie Barnes, commented on the site.  He said “I wrote the FISH HEADS song. And I think it’s pretty fucking good.”  He was a good sport about it and I was only having a little fun with it.

And then I have learned something cool as well.  No matter what you say, people will criticize you if your opinion doesn’t match with their’s.  It’s a little crazy.  They seem to take it so personal when I bash an album that they liked or a rank an album “worst” when they think it should be Top 3 at the very least.  I’m sorry if you people have fragile egos and can’t deal with the fact that you are plain wrong.  Get over it and get used to it!  I’m right and you are wrong…its as simple as that. HA!  I don’t mean that…well not entirely!!  I am not sure where the world got so screwed up that we get so angry with differing opinions and not have calm, rational discussions.  Because you know, it is okay if you like something and I don’t.  I am so cool with that. If we all liked the same thing, life would be kinda boring. (enough rambling)

And the coolest things about it so far are the people I have met through the blog.  I feel like I have made a few friends and found some great sites that I rely on for my reading enjoyment.  I am not going to name names as if I leave someone off, I will feel like a little shit and I also don’t want anyone’s feelings to get hurt.  But you know who you are!

THANK YOU!!!

I appreciate everyone that has stopped by the site and I love it when you leave comments.  That part makes my day that you care enough to take time out of your day to leave a comment.  I will continue to try and bring you enjoyable content and hopefully something that entertains you even for a little while.  I have some wish lists on things I would like to do with the site and hopefully I can get to those someday.

Thanks for all the support! And here’s to the next 1,000 posts.

P.S. – this post is 1,000 words long in case you were wondering…Go count and see!!

  1. Congrats on the milestone, John – 1000 posts in 1304 days, that is impressively prolific!
And you mention disagreeing online – visiting these sites actually restores my faith in people communicating over the internet. The community is all into different things & that’s terrific!

    1. Thank you sir! I’m with you, I like the disagreeing, I get annoyed when it gets personal and not constructive. They don’t even give a reason why I’m wrong, I’m just wrong. It pissed me off a little!! Back it up if you are going to disagree, otherwise you look like an idiot!
