Happy Friday and hope everyone is hanging in there with all the craziness in the world. Despite the world’s events, there are some pretty decent releases. I think there is something here you will find. I have a few I am interested in, but for those that love pop you’ve got The Weeknd, Conan Gray (my kids are thrilled) and Kelsea Ballerini. But those aren’t for me even though I am sure that I will hear Conan without having a choice. My choices are highlighted in Blue. Let me know what you see that you like or what I might have missed. As always, thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!!
Def Leppard – The Early Years – (Virgin EMI / Mercury Records): If you follow the site, you know I have no choice in buying this. Why? Because they are my favorite. It is already bought and will be delivered this fine day. It is a remaster of their first two albums, B-Sides & rarities, but the gem of this are the live shows from the early 80’s. Pete Willis anyone!!! Steve Clark!!! Enough said!! These are going to be AWESOME!!! I guess that wasn’t enough said.
Adam Lambert – Velvet – (More is More LLC / Empire): Adam’s vocals keep getting stronger. With Queen, he is amazing. His solo stuff a little hit and miss, but with that voice, I am willing to give it a listen. It is very different from Queen so don’t expect anything like that except maybe the theatrics and drama.
And the rest…some big names…so maybe something for you…
The Weeknd – After Hours – (Republic Records)
Kelsea Ballerini – Kelsea – (Black River Entertainment)
Conan Gray – Kid Krow – (Republic Records / UMG)
Gordon Lightfoot – Solo – (Early Morning Productions / Warner)
Tower of Power – Step Up – (Artistry Music)
Morrissey – I Am Not a Dog On A Chain – (BMG Rights Mgmt)
Lucifer – Lucifer III – (Century Music)
You are too funny with your Def Leppard obsession John. There are several bands that I love dearly, but there isn’t a single one in which I own all their music. I’m a fan of The Weeknd, and like the songs I’ve heard so far from his new album. And I’m surprised to see that Tower of Power are still around in one form or another.

I’m that way with Kiss too. It is a horrible obsession that I will never seek help on. I’m okay with this addiction.

I am right there with you for this album. I can’t wait to get it myself. I also own all their music as they are my favorite band. I can never get enough Def Lep! Thank you for the great musical info each and every week. I enjoy your blog and I do not comment usually but for this I just had to! This is a great set Def Leppard has released. I have always like their earlier stuff more. Will be fun to listen to. Thank you again for the review!

The Video Nasties: Dominion. UK death metal/John Carpenter mix. The singer works at the same place I do. That’s my tip for this week.

Awesome. I always like a good tip. I will see if I can find that one.

I may eventually but you always go that extra mile with pics and inside info. Itunes has zip so I rely on you and Mikey at times for that kind of stuff!

Nice, look forward to what you think of it. I won’t be picking it up for a bit as I have Big Sugar and two live Leps on preorder. So thats enough for now.

Definitely interested in Gordon Lightfoot. His last album was almost 20 years ago and he just keeps on going regardless of health!

I don’t think I have heard him in years.

I saw him live in 2006 and when he came out on stage, he tripped on a cord — I swear I thought I was about to see him die on stage. He looks so frail and his voice is a whisper of what it used to be.

Funny and sad at the same time.

Yeah. Fortunately he’s defied the odds and is still around, and I can’t believe he recorded a new album in 2020. I’m glad no matter what. I actually listened to his Greatest Hits at work today twice. I find his music really calming, relaxing, and textured.

I’ve heard Lambert’s voice is fantastic (as you said) – I gather he was initially dismissed as a talent show contestant but by most accounts, he’s a great performer!

Yes, he is. One of the more talented ones that came out of Idol.

I’m holding off cause of the current shenanigans but I’ll be buying that Lep set as soon as I can.
