Welcome to the first Friday of August and there a bunch of new releases this week. Not many I’m interested in, but hopefully enough for you to find something. My choices are highlighted in Blue. Let me know which ones you are interested and what I might’ve missed so all our readers can see what is there for their choosing. Thanks for stopping by and I hope everyone has a great weekend.
Deep Purple – Whoosh! – (earMusic): I will admit, I haven’t listened to Deep Purple in years until their last release ‘Infinity’ which was pretty good. I’m hoping they have still upped their game here for another solid release. The old guys still have a little left in the tank…thankfully!!
Seventh Day Slumber – Unseen: The Lion E.P. – (Rockfest Records): A hard rock Christian band. That is good enough for me. Not all of their releases have stuck a chord with me, but there has been enough meat on the bone to keep me coming back. Sadly this is only an E.P., but I will take what I can get. This time around it is some worship music which is fine by me.
And that is it for me. Not feeling the rest, but maybe you will….
Jason Molina – Eight Gates – (Secretly Canadian)
Lionville – Magic Is Alive – (Frontiers Records)
Dukes of the Orient – Freakshow – (Frontiers Records)
Avatar – Hunter Gatherer – (Entertainment One)
Slaves – To Better Days – (SBG Records)
Black Crown Initiate – Violent Portraits of Doomed Escape – (Century Media Records)
Year of the Knife – Internal Incarceration – (Pure Noise Records)
In Hearts Wake – Kaliyuga – (UNFD)
Cassadee Pope – Rise and Shine – (Awake Music LLC)
Mary Chapin Carpenter – The Dirt and the Stars – (Lambent Light Records / Thirty Tigers)
Luke Bryan – Born Here Live Here Die Here – (Capitol Records Nashville)
Only the Purple interests me. A quiet Friday it seems this week

Yes, not a jam packed week, which is good as I need to catch up on some things.

Had to double take on Jason Molina – he’s been dead for years. I’m excited about Victoria Monet’s Jaguar.

Don’t know Jason’s work, or don’t think I do. It was on a list of releases and caught my eye so I added it.

He played in indie bands like Songs: Ohia, but he’s been gone for a while.

Brings a smile to my masked face to see Deep Purple with a new album. That’s a good track.

I like the Deep Purple song and cool video… I do like some of Mary Chapin Carpenter’s older music…I’ll check that one out a little more.

Whoosh! Is a popular one this week. Seems to be what everyone wants to hear.

My copy of Whoosh! turned up today so I suppose I’ll get that! Not anything else for me this week.
