Welcome to the last Friday New Release post for May and let me tell you that May was a little of a letdown. There were a bunch of releases, but not a ton I was really that interested in hearing. Let me tell you, June makes up for it in spades. It gets way better in June. That doesn’t mean we have a bunch of nothing this week, there are a lot of great releases. Only a couple I want to hear and I will highlight those in Blue. Let me know what you want to hear this week and what I may have missed so every one knows what is available. Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend!!
Blackberry Smoke – You Hear Georgia – (3 Legged Records / Thirty Tigers): The Atlanta boys are always bringing some great Southern Rock, Americana, Country Rock…whatever you need to label it. Just sit back and enjoy their blend of music and smoke ’em if you got ’em!!
Del Amitri – Fatal Mistakes – (Cooking Vinyl): It has been 19 years since the band’s last album. That is crazy. They got back together a few years back and have been touring, but finally getting around to an album. I am curious more than anything to see what they bring to the table after so long. Here’s to hoping for a great album.
And that is it for me, but here are all the rest. I am sure there is something good for you to hear!!
Moby – Reprise – (Little Idiot / Deutsche Grammophon)
Kansas – Point of Know Return Live & Beyond – (InsideOut Music)
Tygers of Pan Tang – Majors & Minors – (Mighty Music / SPV)
K. D. Lang – Makeover – (Nonesuch Records)
David Bowie – The Width of a Circle – (Rhino/Parlophone)
The Veronicas – Godzilla – (Sony Music)
Alestorm – Live in Tillburg – (Napalm Records)
Portal – Avow – (Profound Lore)
Brynn Cartelli – Based on a True Story E.P. – (Elektra Records)
Shannon McNally – The Waylon Sessions – (Compass Records)
Rhonda Vincent – Music is What I See – (Upper Management Music)
Texas – Hi – (BMG Rights)
Can – Live in Stutttgart 1975 – (Mute)
White Moth Black Butterfly – The Cost of Dreaming – (KScope)
Gwar – The Disc With No Name E.P. – (Pit Records)
Cirith Ungol – Half Past Human – (Metal Blade Records)
Burning Witches – The Witch of the North – (Nuclear Blast)
Eminence – Dark Echoes – (Blood Blast Distribution)
Noctiferia – Reforma – (Blood Blast Distribution)
Apathy – Where the River Meets – (Dirty Version)
Black Midi – Cavalcade – (Rough Trade Records)
Mental Cruelty – A Hill To Die On – (Unique Leader Records)
Alluvial – Sarcoma – (Nuclear Blast Records)
Perturbator – Lustful Sacraments – (Blood Music)
That Alestorm cover is WICKED. If there’s anything I like more than trains, it’s ships.

And giant rubber ducks…you can’t have an album cover without giant rubber ducks!!

Yes. It’s a little known fact that rubber ducks up the total cover awesomeness by 7.46252%

That is so true. And it is such a little known fact that only 0.00000001% of the population know about it.

I’m a little intrigued by the Moby album. Could be dull, but he has enough good songs to make that work and there are enough artists lending their vocals to it. Aside from that, I think the one I’m most interested in is the DMX album.

Well, the Moby album was quite an effort to get through!

Very cool. I still really like that band, a hold-over from a long time ago.

The Del Amitri album intrigues me…I liked them a lot in the 90s. That song sounds really good.

Ha!!! That is fine. Waiting until June 11th…Damn that is going to be a great day of music!!! Mammoth, Kiss, Def Leppard…just to name a few.

I got KISS and Mammoth on order. Leppard is too pricey for me and those albums to me are patchy at best…
June 12th I hope to do some shopping as its RSD

I agree on the Leppard, but I don’t have them on vinyl and I gotta do it. I am wondering what Volume 4 is going to be as there is only one studio album left. I am sort of hoping it will be some live stuff and maybe a new album!!! I know that is wishful thinking.

Actually that would be cool. I need to get the second one as I basically want it for Retro Active and Slang on vinyl. Someday if the price drops lol

I heard about the Tygers of Pan Tang ‘Majors & Minors’ album and I was going to buy their last four albums myself, but since I’m on a budget, I decided to hold off on the Tygers of Pan Tang albums. The songs are good, but the guy’s voice is too modern for me, so that’s also why I never bought those albums. They do have cool album covers though (the ones with tigers on the front, that is).

Tygers got some great album covers, but I’ve never been in to the band myself. Not a fan of the vocalist either so I get it.

Thanks, I’m glad I can relate with you on the vocalist. It is a shame I don’t like the singer though because their album covers would’ve looked great in my album collection.

Shame on the Canadian media. I’m serious. Why is nobody talking about a new kd lang album in Canada? That’s shocking. She got blast listed in some markets a few years ago for her stance on beef — I don’t think her career ever fully recovered. I don’t care what she eats!

I didn’t see much of anything on it. Crazy. She deserves a mention.

kd has a great voice! We had her on our show to promote the new album but she only got about a minute of air time.

That’s BS! This is kd lang we are talking about! If she comes on my show I’ll give her 2 hours!

lol, well in fairness, we only have 22 minutes and Bennifer isn’t going to cover itself.

So I suppose it isn’t.
