It’s August! Can you believe it!! The Summer is winding down, but thankfully the releases aren’t. My kids will be going back to school and one off to college and since this is depressing me I need to drown my sorrows in new music and wouldn’t you know it, there are few here that will hopefully help me get through it okay. They are marked in Blue. Let me know what you want to hear and let me know what releases I may have missed because it is known to happen. Thanks so much for stopping by and spending a little time with me. I hope you find something great to hear and also have a wonderful weekend. See you next week at the same Bat Time and same Bat Channel (yeah that was as lame as it sounded in my head, but I left it).
Night Ranger – ATBPO – (Frontiers Records): Night Ranger has been going strong this last decade and putting out some great material, maybe even some of their best, but can that streak continue? Who knows, but I do know I will be listening to this one first thing in the morning. The boys still can kick some ass and I need a good ass kicking right now…wait…something sounds strange about that last sentence…oh well.
Colin Hay – I Just Don’t Know What To Do With Myself – (Compass Records): Colin Hay’s solo work has been hit or miss, but I am always eager to hear as there is usually something I can grab hold of and enjoy. The former Men at Work singer has been putting out music for about 40 years and I will continue to tag along for the ride.
George Harrison – All Things Must Pass (50th Anniversary) – (G.H. Estate / Calderstone Productions / Universal): This album is 50 Years Old…that is nuts! I have never spent much time with this one, but for this fully packed Box Set, I think I should. Plus, my brother-in-law, Ryan Williams, worked with Dhani Harrison and helped a little on putting the songs together for this by diving deep in the tapes and it sounds like he had a blast doing it and finding some treasures.
And all the rest…I am sure there is something for you…

Frontier’s promotion strikes again. Release so many at the same time to fight against each other. It doesn’t make sense.
But I will be checking out Night Ranger.
And thank you for rounding these new releases up each week.

This is a ridiculous # of albums from Frontiers. I still think it is a dumb idea but it must be working for them.

Thank God for the Snowman keeping track of the 72 Frontiers releases coming out on the same day!

Here here. I’ll drink to that. That owner Serufino, he’s either thinking about amassing as much songs as possible so he holds the copyrights and can then sell the business to a major label or he’s washing money through Frontiers. Lol.

Too funny…he’s probably doing both.

Well when we talked to Andy Curran about Coney Hatch 4 coming out on Frontiers. It was our third interview with him if u want to watch it.

Pete scroll to the 40 minute mark. Andy talks openly about the Frontiers deal Coney had. Great stuff…

I like the song by Colin Hay. I had no idea he’s been putting out so much music in recent years.

He’s been quietly under the radar. I like his laid back style.

I’ll have to check out the Night Ranger. They’ve been on a pretty good roll in recent years.

I have heard it once and it was okay. Didn’t jump out as good as the prior ones.

I love your writing! I got a laugh out of this line: “The boys still can kick some ass and I need a good ass kicking right now…wait…something sounds strange about that last sentence…oh well.” Nothing for me here, but it’s interesting to see Brian May’s first studio album remastered.
By the way, what do you think of Christian rock music? Since you like Needtobreathe. I kind of want to check out this American Idol guy that I loved back in season 11 and he does Christian rock now. Not a religious person, but I kind of dig a few of his songs.

Thanks. If it is Colton Dixon, I highly recommend. If Danny Gokey, he’s going ok but a list soft for me

Yeah, it’s Colton Dixon. And oddly enough, I saw a post where Colton was promoting going on tour with Danny. I’ve despised Christian rock for a long while, but if it’s loud and rocks, then I’ll be ok (hopefully).
You’ve listened to Colton’s music?

Yes. I am a fan. He isn’t that rock but has his moments. His album Identity is a favorite of mine. Don’t listen to it on shuffle. Play it from start to finish. Sort of a concept album

Yeah, I agree. Not all rock, but interesting. Kind of modern and I can hear the Paramore influence too. Oh ‘Identity,’ ok! I just got through ‘A Messenger’ and I’m on ‘Anchor’ now, so I’ll get there.

Nothing for me, though buriedonmars keeps recommending Khruangbin to me.

I can’t even pronounce that band’s name. If I can’t pronounce it, I can’t play it!! New rule!!! LOL!!

I’m really digging Mr. Men at Work…Hays is so just chillin’ and I can get in to a little chillin’.

I strive for “chillin'” everyday.

I’d like to be chillin’ on an island with a drink in my hand, lying back in a hammock with some great tunage playing and my wife next to me. That is what I would like to be doing everyday.
