Welcome to the final Purchases Wrap-Up of 2023 and we will go out with a bang. This month saw a trip to New York City to see the final Kiss show so of course we hit some record stores while there. It also saw Christmas and my Birthday so a lot of good stuff came my way. The month started off with the Kiss show and if you want to see all the Kiss stuff go read the review HERE!!!. Here, we will show the purchases I made while in New York. We hit four record stores and bought from three of them. First up is a couple from the first store and found the debut Kix album and Maneskin’s new one on vinyl. Good stuff…

And at the next one, we found a couple Whitesnake bootlegs of a couple radio broadcasts. And these are early 80’s which is the best stuff…

And I picked up a couple CDs as well including Eric Singers ESP album signed by Eric…

And the final store saw us pick up a couple Japanese 12″ singles from the 80’s in pristine, almost mint condition…and with OBI’s!!! These are nice…

Then early on in the month, our good buddy at Tim’s Vinyl Confessions, Tim Durling, released his second book, ‘Down for the Count: The Y&T Album Review’ and it is fantastic. Artwork by Hugh Syme, foreward by Sean Kelly and even has me in a couple chapters talking about Y&T. Go check it out and buy a copy…

My local record store, Noble Records, released a couple more exclusives this month including his first 7″ single (only 100 printed) and I got them both. The LP Is StoneWall and the Single was from Blast. Both worth it. I also found one I was missing on Discogs which is Heavy Ohio Organ Funk from The Jive Turkeys and it is surprisingly AMAZING!!

Then I picked up some random things throughout the month from Kiss (Walmart Exclusive “Icon’), Collective Soul’s greatest hits and Queensryche’s Empire

There were also some random CD’s I picked up of two bands you probably have never heard of that had two albums that are so good I had to finally get them on CD. Both rock out…One for the band Operator and one for the band Atom Smash…

And as I was digging through the items for the Def Leppard Collection Series that I am currently doing, I realized I was missing their 2CD set, ‘Best Of’. So, I picked it up.

If you didn’t know, Billy Idol had a concert movie in the theaters for one day only a few weeks back. Now, I have it on Blu-Ray and can’t wait to see it again as I did catch it in the theaters. It is Billy and Steve Stevens at the Hoover Dam…

If you aren’t bored, there is still more. Kiss released the 40th Anniversary Picture Disc box set of their 1983 album, ‘Lick It Up’. Don’t worry, a review is coming soon…

Then another of my favorite artists released an E.P. called ‘The Lexington E.P.’ and it is from Matt Nathanson. This thing is great with some demos, live versions and other great tracks. He never disappoints…

And that is everything that bought during the month. But it isn’t everything I received. A couple months back (or maybe a month ago), I commented on Aaron’s post about The Tragically Hip and the next thing I know, it arrived in my mailbox with the typical Aaron note. Community people…Community!! And, I actually liked it!!

Now, we are to the end and what I received for Christmas and my Birthday. The non-music, music item I received from my oldest was a new mouse pad with the site’s logo. She thought it was time for me to get rid of the old one which was a picture of her as a toddler and me. Priceless, so I could never get rid of it, but I can save it forever and start using the new one…

And to save time, here is everything I did receive for Christmas. It includes a Kiss Unauthorized Comic Book and an Ace Frehley cassette as she always likes to get me Kiss related stuff. However, she didn’t know the Ace Frehley was actually Kiss related. She was thinking of Alice Cooper for some reason, but who cares, I love it as I needed it for the collection. The rest is from my lovely wife and I can’t wait to read and listen to it all…

And that is the end. Happy New Year to you all and I can’t wait to see what 2024 has in store for us. See you then…

That’s what I call a major haul, my friend. So cool on the logo mousepad. Your daughter really loves you to give you a gift like that. Oh, and the music is pretty swell also. The only one I connect to is the Collective Soul one. Happy Holidays!

Love the mousepad. There was a time I’d have gone crazy for the Bon Jovi Japanese imports too. So many great variants and you find the coolest stuff

I don’t search out those Japanese pressings, but when I find them, I grab them. Plus, those two looked like they had never been played or touched. Insane for almost 40 year old records.

Absolutely insane. And now they have their forever home

I love Collective Soul. I wish they would put out the remaining albums they are missing on vinyl. I would like them all that way.

As usual – nice score. And based on your monthly scores all of your walls should be covered from top to bottom with shelving and music product.

They are getting that way. My CD shelf is full and now I have to figure out what to do. Still have tons of room for vinyl.

I always think of Holen when I see Kix. Looks like December was another great month and now that you’ve been kipnapped to another universe, I think I’ll drop in and “borrow” some Bon Jovi 12″.

Drop in any time. I can’t say I think of Holen when I see Kix, but I do like early Kix.

I reviewed all the Kix albums on Mike’s site back in 2018! That’s why.

Dang, another great haul, John! Talk about go big or go home! That ESP album with Eric’s signature is cool. Was it a used copy that just happened to have his signature or did he sign a bunch of them when the album was released? Have an amazing 2024, my friend!

The ESP was already signed and in the Used section. Happy New Year Lana!!

Huh, interesting. Kinda strange for someone to toss out a CD that was signed by a band member, but it worked out for you! Happy New Year, John! I hope you’re off to a great 2024, so far.
