Welcome to the first Purchases wrap ip of 2024. And January was a big month for CDs, thanks in part to 2nd & Charles and their great sale of Buy 5, Get 5 Free! I always take full advantage of that sale and this time was no different. And instead of only buying 5 and getting 5, I found enough to Buy 10 and get 10 Free. Here are the 10 I bought…

And here are the 10 I got for Free (or could be the other way around, doesn’t matter)…

And then shortly after that, something I bought with my Christmas Gift Cards I received showed up. I have been wanting this vinyl for quite some time and I finally bought it. If that wasn’t enough, later in the month I was at an antique shop called ‘Sleepy Poets’ and I found the cassette for the same album. Had to buy it. Now, I have it on CD, vinyl and Cassette…

The month also saw me get some ad money and that had to be spent as well so I picked up a bunch of Japanese pressings and one not for work by Jakob Samuels. I wanted to try and finish off his Poodles work but didn’t quite get it all. Still waiting on something from Poland that hasn’t arrived yet…but this will hold me off until then…

And that wasn’t all the Japanese Editions I bought. I also picked up Shaw Blades and a little Kiss. A pretty good compilation if you ask me…

I also like to collect the Rock Candy Reissues and I am trying to buy 1 a month, but the prices on these two were too good to pass up so I bought 2 this month. A great Hanoi Rocks 2 CD set and the 2nd Coney Hatch album. I loved the first so why not explore them a little more…

While I was at the antique shop, I also found a CD for a band called Royal Bliss. I remember hearing this when it came out and I liked it, so I bought it for like $2. I took it home, popped in the CD player and I still like it. Good purchase…

Another thing you can’t count on seeing each month is any Noble Records Exclusives that comes out and Dillon released only 1 this month for a band called Luigi Anada Boys. I also picked up the very first Noble Records Exclusive for Randy Holden for his Population II album. I missed that one when it came out. I think I am only missing one of the entire 22 or 23 he has put out (maybe 24, I’ve lost count). Anyway, here they are. There is some killer guitar work on these two releases. Some solid rock & roll…

While I was at Noble Records picking up the new exclusive, I thought I’d look around and lo and behold, there was stuff I wanted. First up are a couple Scorpions records. One is ‘Taken by Force’ with the original controversial cover. This is the 2015 reissue I believe and it comes with a CD inside. The second is a bootleg which I haven’t listened to it yet. I love how the cover keeps with some of the Scorpions cover styles…

And lastly, also at Noble, I picked up a really cool UK Pressing of AC/DC’s High Voltage. I had never seen this one before so I had to have it. It is ugly that is totally cool…

And there you have it. All my purchases for January 2024. Not a bad start to the year. February will hopefully see some cool stuff as I have a couple things on pre-order and I am hoping to get to a record show in a couple weeks, so we will see. Thanks for stopping by and here is everything one more time…

That AC/DC cover is the one I have here in the U.K. it’s so terrible it’s kind of brilliant. I see you got Word Gets Around by Stereophonics. Good album

All I’m gonna say is, don’t judge Rush by Test For Echo. Their worst album. Dog Years? Throw your message in a modem? Terrible, all but a few tracks like Resist and the title track.

I don’t judge Rush poorly on anything. I needed it as I didn’t have it.

Nice scores John. Extreme III sides is a killer album I think their best actually. Nice to see Coney and also what I consider Hanoi Rocks best as well. Do you still actually have room for all of this stuff. haha

Funny thing on the room, the CD shelf is now completely full…no more room. Still have plenty of room for vinyl. I am not sure what I’m going to do about the CD problem…I’m still going to buy them, just don’t know where I’m going to put them.

Wow. You picked up the pace in January. Nice haul.
Stereophonics are great. There isn’t anyone with a voice that sounds like Kelly Jones.
I also have to work on my Rock Candy collection. I’m at 37 and counting. I think I’ll put on Warrant today.

Only because of that awesome sell at 2nd & Charles on used CDs. It wouldn’t have been as big if it wasn’t for that.
And you are way ahead of me on Rock Candy releases. I’m at 12-14 maybe.

That’s terrific you have III sides in 3 formats!
And I have Deke to thank for introducing me to Two Steps From the Move – looking forward to maybe seeing some of these eventually appear in video form on The Collection!

They will all eventually make it, I hope.

Nice stack of stuff. I need to get that Hanoi Rocks, I have everything else but keep forgetting to grab that album, which like Deke said is their best.

Scorpions has been on my mind this week because my dad listens to a classic rock radio station that likes to play Scorpions. ‘Taken by Force’ is a great album. In fact, I think I bought it because you said it was good!
