Last week, Aerosmith announced their retirement from touring. To honor the band, I figured why not go through their vinyl I have in my collection. From the 1973 debut album up to the more recent Record Store Day live album, let’s walk through the albums from one of the greatest bands of all time. Come join the fun.
So go check it out as it is live now on August 5, 2024 at 8 p.m.…because why not!! Thanks for stopping by and please click “Like” and hit “Subscribe” as it helps out the site when you do.

That’s a lot! I only own one album on vinyl, and not a very good one (Permanent Vacation). Because I own the Box of Fire with expanded packaging, I don’t feel the need to go vinyl on these guys. (I also own The Road Starts Hear and a few 12″ singles – I think Dude is one, but I never play them.)
Live Bootleg is of course Deke’s favourite live album of all time, and in my Top Five for sure.

When I started collecting again, I went vinyl since that is how they were released back in the day and should be heard. I will get the CDs eventually, although I do have a few of those too.

To me, I chose CD because of the expanded packaging and more photos. Not to mention the 5 bonus tracks on Box of Fire.

Joe Perry admitted in an interview that they made the “Draw the Line” album to pay off their dealers. Toys and Rocks are my favourite albums. “Live Bootleg” was the album where the famous Philadelphia bottle incident occurred.

Really? I did not know that! Coincidentally enough, I saw a used copy of ‘Live Bootleg’ at the Book Off two weeks ago, but didn’t buy it and now I’m upset I didn’t.

Yeah, that is basically true. Good point. Get it next time you see it Lana.

Definitely a shame that they’ve had to call it a day and weren’t quite able to go out in the manner they’d planned but they had a very strong run, there are precious few acts who manage to have distinct peaks across three decades in such a way as they did and I’m glad I got to see them live when I did.
I think my collection is the opposite to yours in that I’ve got the almost the lot (there are only so many compilations you need) on CD and only a couple of items on wax.

I have mixed feelings about Aerosmith retiring because I kinda saw it coming with Steven’s health issues these past few years. However, I feel bad that they never got to do the farewell tour to its fullest, considering all the time and money they put into it. And this is coming from someone who thinks farewell tours are a joke.

Ha! I hate they didn’t get to finish as well. But what a legacy of music they have left.

Oh yeah and like your reviews said, some great albums and some stinkers, but overall, there’s enough to enjoy from Aerosmith’s catalog.

It pretty much shocked me when they announced this. I didn’t know about his health issues. They sure as hell had a great run…two or three of them.
