What started off as a side project for Nikki Sixx of Motley Crue, became a full fledged band and lasted 5 studio albums. They started off to only do a soundtrack to Nikki’s autobiography ‘The Heroin Diaries’ and then the rest is history. Sixx A.M. consists of Nikki Sixx, DJ Ashba and James Michael. Are they better than Motley Crue? Who knows…we just want to go through their collection.
So go check it out as it will be live tonight right now, April 7, 2025 at 8pm. Thanks for stopping by and please click “Like” and hit “Subscribe” as it helps out the site when you do.

Good title 😉 Great thinking John!
This is a band I won’t bother with. One of my former cohosts used to say that Sixx follows trends. I believe that to be true.

Thanks. And Yes he does do that, but he lined himself up with a couple very talented people for this project. Some really great songs. It is probably the best side project of any of the members. If you streamed, I’d tell you to check it out.

I just to call him DJ Dumpface. Ask Scott the Scot about our old Ashba conversations!

Oh but nothing can top Vince Neil’s Exposed! Steve Stevens > DJ Dumpface.

Whatever one’s thoughts about Nikki Sixx are, that 1st album by Sixx A.M “Heroin Diaries” is a flat out kick-ass 5 star wild concept album that kinda goes along with his book, loosely 1 song each kinda connecting with the respective chapters of the book. But even if you haven’t read the book the album on it’s own is pretty f’ing epic, in my humble opinion. It passes the car roadtrip test where there is no fast forwarding past a song, they all are good.
James Michael the singer from Sixx A.M is someone who can actually sing unlike poor Vince. And saw them live in a club in NJ and they were legit live. I think definitely worth checking out.
I’ve haven’t listened to but have heard some good things about Mick Mars’ album after he was so eloquently dismissed from the Crue.
The subsequent albums after Heroin Diaries kinda all mix together for me in my head but I think if I remember correctly “This is gonna hurt” was pretty damn good.

Thanks. I agree. Even if you aren’t a fan of Sixx, this band had some really good albums and those first two were worth a listen.

The only album worth putting up against the Crue’s work is Heroin Diaries. Their other albums aren’t bad. Their cover of The Cars’ Drive is.

I forgot to answer the question. No, I don’t think Sixx is better than the Crue. Then again, they’re both different bands.

I don’t either. At least they aren’t better than original Crue. But later Crue, they kick Crue’s ass!!

Drive is awesome. I need to do an Original vs. Cover with that song.

Thanks for this. Listened to Heroin diaries and This is gonna hurt yesterday.
I’m missing that hits albums. Is it worth getting?

I mean it depends. The new songs are good, but not as great as the two albums you mentioned. I like it when I want a scattering of all their albums…even if Hits is missing my all time favorite Sixx A.M. song “When We Were Gods”

Their song “Sure feels right” almost makes me want to move to California and drive down the Pacific Coast Hwy in a convertible…almost, lol.
