The Collection: Ep. 85 – Harem Scarem ‘The Ultimate Collection’ (2019) – Box Set

This week, We are going to talk Harem Scarem. More Specifically, the 2019 release of the Frontiers Records release of the ‘The Ultimate Collection’ Box Set. The Ultimate Collection is a box set that contains 12 of their studio albums plus a collection of songs from early in their career as well as a disc of unreleased tracks.  And to top it off, the studio albums include all the bonus tracks from those albums as well.  That is a lot of music and there are 175 tracks in this set. It is Incredible!

  1. How ironic, I was listening to “United” the other day. Harem Scarem were one of those bands where I have several of their albums but didn’t dig into them as a band. So, thank you for providing this insight on them.

  2. This is quite the set. To be honest, I didn’t know it existed until now. I have fifteen of their albums, if you count Rubber in there. I got the first album via Columbia House in the early nineties, and have been a fan ever since. If Discogs is to be believed, I am missing three albums from my collection. I hope that with this box set, I’m not missing a whole lot among the extras.

    1. I’m not sure if you are missing. I don’t think anything here is unreleased. It is simply bonus tracks, b-sides, etc… But cool you have pretty much everything. I’m still missing a bunch.

      1. Well, last night, I ordered Overload and Higher. I know I’m missing Karma Cleansing. I think I have the rest of their studio albums. I have Mood Swings II with the three (awesome) extra tracks. I also have the EP collection and The Early Years discs. The hair!!! For the Rubber stuff, I have the self titled album.

What bugs me about trying to complete my collection is it seems nobody in Canada has these albums. I’m having to go to Europe, at least with Discogs, in order to get what I want. Perhaps they have more of a following abroad.

The band is still good today. Harry’s voice has aged like a fine wine. Pete can still crank out riffs. I need to see them live!
