Formed in 1983, just a mere 35 years ago, Bon Jovi defined the 80’s music scene. They have since had 13 studio albums, 3 live albums, numerous compilations and even a box set. With so much music, some of course is bad, some is good, some is great and some is legendary. They have had line-up changes as most bands have had and yet the still keep rolling on. They have even made it in to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Since there is so much about the band, they deserve to have their albums ranked from Worst to First. I am going to do all 13 of their studio albums, plus 1 compilation which I thought was a studio album, but apparently not…who knew. So, 14 albums in total will be coming at you. I hope you have time to get through all of them.
And as always, let’s start with my least favorite album and work our way to my favorite…so sit back and enjoy…
15. THE WORST – ‘THE CIRCLE’ (2009):
‘The Circle’ was supposed to be the band’s return to rock after a very Nashville based previous album, ‘Lost Highway”. The big problem for me with this album was the lack of credibility the songs had with me. They tried to return to a “working man” sound such as “Work for the Working Man”, but I didn’t believe it. It felt forced and fake. Nothing on this album resonated with me in the least bit. Even today, I can’t think of the names of the songs on this album. They were not memorable and just seemed stale and uninspiring.

The song “God Bless This Mess” sums up the album. The album is a complete mess. The album has some good songs, but overall lacks heart and the great songwriting from years past. I really wanted to like this album and hoped they could make one last great album. That did not happen.
What is wrong with the album? Where do I begin.
1. The album is so formulaic and a repeat of their last few albums. There is definitely nothing new.
2. The backing vocals are lacking. Richie Sambora’s vocals alongside Jon’s voice are sorely missed.
3. There are no great power ballads and a lot of the songs lack any real emotion. At times it feels like they are phoning it in. It is very disappointing.

Bon Jovi announced their new tour dates in support of their upcoming album ‘This House is Not For Sale’. Not sure how excited I am about seeing them again as I have seen them several times. Plus, they are not coming to Charlotte so I will not be traveling anywhere to see them. But maybe you can.
People who have seen them in concert recently have already heard the whole album, but I have only heard three songs off the new album. Two are okay “This House is Not For Sale” and “Knockout”. The third song, “Labor of Love”, is just plain awful. Nothing is GREAT!! so far. Here is to still holding out a little hope for some great songs.

Bon Jovi have released a new video called “This House is not For Sale” off their new album of the same name. The new album will be out on October 12 of this year. I am interested in what they have to offer although their last few releases have not been good at all so my expectations are very limited.
It looks like guitarist, Phil X, is now an official member of the band and is featured on the new album. I guess any hope of Richie Sambora coming back keep slipping away. But I am okay with it as I am excited to see what Richie is working on with guitarist Orianthi. Enough about that…here is the video.
