Friday again and we are definitely getting closer to Christmas as there are several Christmas albums on the new release schedule (and I don’t want to listen to any of them!!!). Thank goodness there are some great rock releases as well. If you like women rockers, there are two great ones coming out today in The Pretty Reckless and The Pretenders. So many to listen to and can’t wait to hear them. My choices are highlighted in Blue.
- Pretty Reckless – Who You Selling For – (Razor & Tie): Taylor Momsen and gang are ready for the new hard rock release. Taylor has a great voice that is perfect to rock out. She is amazing and so is this band. High hopes for this one.
The Pretenders – Alone – (BMG): This was an unexpected surprise. So excited that Chrissie Hynde is back. I have followed them since the early 80’s and love everything they do. This is a must for me.
- Wovenwar – Honor is Dead – (Metal Blade Records): A new metal band and are now on their second release. If it is anything like their first release this will another metal masterpiece.
- Lady Gaga – Joanne – (Interscope): I have a fascination with Lady Gaga. Despite her clothes and her antics, she is super talented and I have really enjoyed her previous efforts and loved her with Tony Bennettt. I am sure she will be worth a listen.
- Michael Buble – Nobody But Me – (Reprise Records): Michael Buble has produced his 7th album and is one of the top crooners out there today. I really enjoy this style and there are not many that do it as well as he does nowadays.
- Jonathan Cain – What God Wants to Hear – (Identity Records): The keyboardist from Journey has found religion and is releasing his first Christian album. Since I am a fan of Christian music and Journey, I will give it a listen to see how he does.
- Mecca – 3 – (MelodicRock Records)
- Korn – The Serenity of Suffering – (Roadrunner Records)
- Jimmy Eat World – Integrity Blues – (RCA)
- Sia – This is Acting (Deluxe Version) – (RCA)
- Chris Tomlin – Never Lose Sight – (sixsteprecords)
- Ronnie Dunn – Tattooed Heart – (Nash Icon)
- Bette Midler – The Devine Miss M Deluxe – (Rhino Entertainment)
- I Prevail – Lifelines – (Fearless Records)
- Pantera – The Great Southern Trendkill (20th Anniversary) – (Elektra)
- Saxon – Let Me Feel Your Power – (UDR)
- Lauren Daigle – Behold – (Centricity Music)
- David Crosby – Lighthouse – (Universal Music Classics)
- Ryan Bingham – Ryan Bingham Live – (Axster Bingham Records)
- Leonard Cohen – You Want It Darker – (Sony Music)
- Miles Davis – Miles Davis Quintet: Freedom Jazz Dance: The Bootleg Series, Vol. 5 – (Legacy)
- Trans-Siberian Orchestra – The Ghost of Christmas Eve – (Atlantic Catalog Group)
- Pentatonix – A Pentatonix Christmas – (RCA)
- Sarah McLachlan – Wonderland – (The Verve Music Group)
- Amy Grant – Tennessee Christmas – (Amy Grant)
- Matthew West – Unto Us: A Christmas Collection – (Sparrow)
- Matt Redman – These Christmas Lights – (sixstepsrecords/Sparrow)
- Rascal Flatts – The Greatest Gift of All – (Big Machine)
- Elvis Presley – The Wonder of You: Elvis Presley with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra – (Sony Legacy)
Yep, I’ll be getting the new Pretenders album ASAP. Chrissie is a legend! Love, love, love her!

That Pretenders debut is one for the books – glad to hear their more recent efforts have been well worth hearing as well!

So far it is great. Only about 3 songs in though.

I didn’t know Jonathan Cain had his own album out. Interesting… Also, that Saxon came out last week in the UK. I recommend it! Good value live set.

The Cain one is a Christian album so should be interesting.

A Bingham live album? That’s interesting… wasn’t aware of that at all.

I saw the Lady Gaga on the shelves yesterday and was surprised by a rather low-key album cover. Very different for her. She’s only beginning to show us her true talents, I think.

I agree she has matured nicely. Great things to come.

Agreed. And also I’ve been liking The Pretty Reckless more lately.

Pretty Reckless are great. The new one is more bluesy sounding.

That’s cool because her voice is good that way.

Impressive that The Pretenders are still around! They had a real good run commercially years ago considering two there members died within months of each other….

I was surprised when I saw they had an album coming out. I had to check to make sure it wasn’t a reissue.
