I hope everyone has a wonderful Friday and a fantastic weekend. I should be sitting on a tropical beach in Jamaica about now soaking up the sun and the alcohol with my lovely bride of 15 years. We are two weeks past our anniversary, but we finally got away just the two of us.
The bad news is I am missing so many great releases this weekend, but I don’t really care. I will listen when I get back. One release that is actually quite fitting is the Train release. That is “our band” as I have mentioned many times on this blog. That will the one I definitely check out this week. I have highlighted in Blue all the ones I am interested in and will find some time to give a listen.
Train – A Girl, A Bottle, A Boat – (Sunken Forest/Columbia): So happy for another Train album. I have heard a couple songs so far and they have been okay. They seem to be rehashing the same formula with every album and song now and loosing some of the magic (reminds of what Bon Jovi is going through). I am hoping the rest of the album is better otherwise, they might loose their place as my wife and I’s favorite band.
Stephen Pearcy – Smash – (Frontiers Records Srl): The Ratt singer is releasing his latest solo release. I prefer him with Ratt, but hoping for some of the old magic here. The song “I Can’t Take It” is very promising and the best thing I have heard from him in a while.
Delbert McClinton and Self Made Men – Prick of the Litter – (Hot Shot Records): The famous blues singer is back with a new album and new group the Self Made Men. His voice fits nicely for the blues and I am looking forward to seeing what he has put together for us.
Jack Russell’s Great White – He Saw It Comin’ – (Frontiers Music Srl): My expectations are low as I don’t think the magic of the old Great White days are around anymore, but I will always give him a try for old times sake. I might be pleasantly surprised.
Krokus – Big Rocks – (Sony Music): Krokus brings us a covers album…just what we need. Since it is Krokus, I will give it a listen.
The Murder of My Sweet – Echoes of the Aftermath – (Frontiers Records Srl)
Pride of Lions – Fearless – (Frontiers Records Srl)
Last Autumns Dream – In Disguise – (Escape Music)
Sleater-Kinney – Live in Paris – (Sub Pop Records)
Migos – Culture – (Quality Control Music)
Brantley Gilbert – The Devil Don’t Sleep – (Big Machine)
Lauren Alaina – Road Less Traveled – (19 Recordings)
Bell Biv DeVoe – Three Stripes – (The Triangle & Entertainment One)
Joshua Radin – The Fall – (Glass Bead Music)
Kreator – Gods of Violence – (Nuclear Blast)
Annihilator – Triple Threat – (UDR GmbH)
WOW Gospel 2017 – (RCA Inspiration)
Armik – Enamor – (Bolero Records)
John Mayall – Talk About That – (John Mayall)
Enjoy your trip, the metal will be here when you get back!

Good bunch of stuff this week. The Kreator album is great and I liked the Stephen Pearcy stuff that I’ve heard so far… better than I expected!

Thanks. I will start listening to as much as I can now that I am back. Glad to hear that about Stephen Pearcy. I am hoping it is good.

do you buy all these albums you review or do you get them from a record label? Being a disabled navy veteran on a small pension i am always trying to find labels that would donate material for me to review.

I stream new stuff from Apple Music. Individual plans are about $10 a month. Sometimes record companies will send me a link to the songs plus a press kit, but no actual CD or anything is sent. If I review older albums, I usually have bought those. I haven’t ever had anyone send me any CDs or anything yet. They are real protective over the product and don’t want it to leak thus they are controlling it through the links.
