The year is already flying by as we are now in February in what seems like a blink of the eye. I am still getting through all of last week’s releases so luckily there are only 2 I find intriguing this week. They are highlighted in Blue.
Black Star Riders – Heavy Fire – (Nuclear Blast): Black Star Riders returns with their third album. The band is basically Thin Lizzy but they are not using the name. Not sure why, but regardless, I love the new material. The first two albums were great and I feel they are just getting warmed up. High hopes for the new release.
Judas Priest – Turbo (30th Anniversary 3CD set) – (Sony Legacy): Wow! 30 years since the release of Turbo. I am looking forward to revisiting this classic Judas Priest album and eager to hear what special they might have added to this addition. Here is the original video to “Turbo Lover” and the video was awful…sorry.
Beth Hart – Fire on the Floor – (Mascot Label): Beth has a great blues voice and I think I am going to give this one a spin. The title track sounds incredible!!
Black Sabbath – The Ultimate Collection (2CD) – (Rhino/Warner): Great…another greatest hits collection…just what I wanted…not really but I will probably stream if I can.
L.A. Guns – A Fistful of Guns: Anthology 1985-2012 – (Deadline Music)
Wyclef Jean – J’ouvert – (Heads Music)
Kari Jobe – The Garden – (KAJE, LLC)
Less Than Jake – Sound the Alarm – (Pure Noise Records)
Big Sean – I Decided. – (Getting Out Our Dreams / Def Jam)
Reba McEntire – Sing It Now: Songs of Faith and Hope – (Rockin’ R Records)
LeAnn Rimes – Remnants – (Sony Music)
Common Kings – Lost in Paradise – (Island Empire Records)
CeCe Winans – Let Them Fall in Love – (Pure Springs Gospel)
Sabbath …really? The Priest one looks real good….

The Sabbath hits keep on coming. I have two releases on my list this week – Duke Garwood’s Garden Of Ashes and Lift To Experience’s Texas Jerusalem Crossroads reissue. I had expected the latter to arrive yesterday, but seems I’ll be waiting until next week to get my hands on it now. Bah.

I hate when something doesn’t show up when you expect it. I hope it arrives soon. I have something coming next week and is supposed to arrive on release day, so if it doesn’t I will be pissed.

Yeah, it’s frustrating. Was looking forward to playing it this weekend. However, I have the original CD, so I guess that’ll satisfy the urge to listen until it lands.
Hopefully your something arrives on release day!

There are a few artists that I’m the same with. That’s why they keep treating us with all these goods!

Was really hoping I’d have Priest by now. It should have come yesterday. BAD CANADA POST.
The only Sabbath “hits” collections I have are two: We Sold Our Souls For Rock N’ Roll (because it’s an old classic I had in highschool) and The Sabbath Stones, because it has one Japanese track. Otherwise I always tell people — get Sabbath ALBUMS.

I keep looking for the used Sabbath albums in my vinyl hunts, but they are so hard to come by (at least in decent shape).

Yes and for the artwork, you want good shape. I have a two CD remaster of We Sold Our Souls which does the trick for me.

That has all the classic songs. The only one I have right now on vinyl is Mob Rules. I will keep looking.

Ooooo, Beth Hart, good stuff, thanks for turning me onto that, Judas Priest’s Turbo was 30 years ago? I saw that tour in Worcester, Ma in 1988.

I haven’t listened to Beth yet. Could be good. I can’t believe all the albums that came out in the 80’s are now 30-35 years or more. Insane how time flies.
