For My Sunday Song #167, we are playing “Don’t Bring That Trouble” by the band Needtobreathe. The song is off their 2016 album ‘Hard Love’ which saw the band’s sound change a little adding a little more dance/pop elements without losing that signature Needtobreathe feel.
“Don’t Bring That Trouble” is the most rocking track on the record. It has a great guitar riff opening and sound. The drum beats come banging in and though not real drums, the electronic beats pick up the pace of the song and drive in to a more rocking track than the rest of the album. There is even a southern rock/country vibe thrown in with it as well. Overall, it is pure fun and enjoyment and sometimes you need to let loose and let it fly and this does that.
Lyrically, there is not much substance like a lot of their songs I have featured. The song is basically talking about how he is broken and he is trying to fix his life and problems and if you are coming along for the ride, don’t bring any trouble as he doesn’t want to deal with that anymore. For me, it doesn’t matter as I want to crank it up and dance a little. Sometimes, lack of substance is fine with me!!!

Give the song a listen and let me know what you think. This one isn’t to make you think (or at least it wasn’t for me), it is to make you have a good time. I hope you enjoy it and have a Happy Sunday.
“DON’T BRING THAT TROUBLE”
Been through that fire
There’s angels holding onto both sides of the wire
I’m lacking what I need to carry you through it
Stay back or get on track cause I can’t have you ruin itI said
Hold on but don’t hold me back
Hold on but don’t hold me back
Hold on but don’t hold me back
Just hold on
I had it rough, I had to move for awhile
Lock down the house and chain it up with denial
I’m coming home and everyone is invited singin’
Don’t bring that trouble with you
Don’t bring that trouble with you
I found the way around you
Gonna take me higher
Last time the way I loved you
Just wound up tired
I’m lacking what I need to carry you through it
Stay back or get on track cause I can’t have you ruin it
I said
Hold on but don’t hold me back
Hold on but don’t hold me back
Hold on but don’t hold me back
Just hold on
I had it rough, I had to move for awhile
Lock down the house and chain it up with denial
I’m coming home and everyone is invited singin’
Don’t bring that trouble with you
Don’t bring that trouble with you
Don’t bring that trouble with you
Don’t bring that trouble with you
I had it rough, I had to move for awhile
Lock down the house and chain it up with denial
I’m coming home and everyone is invited singin’
Don’t bring that trouble with you
Don’t bring that trouble with you

Too true, there’s a time for substance – and there’s a time for dance!

Not kidding, I somehow ended up with that Men Without Hats single in my collection at one point, can’t recall when/where- but I’ll cue it up!

I think if I found the 45, I would grab that one as well just to have in the collection.

Well, those guys had a decent run in the 80s thanks to MuchMusic!

I was thinking that you were going to mention Footloose there for a second.

I’m just pleased dancing isn’t forbidden at this site, like in that small town!

The only one allowed not to dance is me. My kids refuse to let that happen. I think I embarrass them for some strange reason!

Nice to hear these guys letting it loose John. All under 3 minutes as well!

Live is where they really let loose and why I try to see them every time they come. Now I have only seen them three times so I have missed a few shows.
